Chapter 20: Grudge of Jealousy
A solemn of silence engulfed the people of Teiko as they marched. Aomine's Sky Troops, Midorima's Sniping Unit, Kise's Infiltration Squadron, Murasakibara's Army of Defense and the deadliest of all, Akashi's clansmen. The unidentified threat had declared war against the great empire of Teiko. Knowing Akashi, he would never let the enemy run free unharmed before making sure desires would transform into deplores.
A horde of walking zombies encompassed the heart of Teiko, the Castle of Rakuzan. Creep slithered under Himuro's skin and Mayuzumi shrieked at the ghastly sight of the undead. They are unearthly beings that should never exist outside the mortal timeline. It is blasphemy, and extremely forbidden. Yes, a forbidden technique.
Akashi's clansmen frowned when the horde of zombies came into view. There was once a man who was a terrific summoner. Or there should be. No one had heard of him nor seen him in a hundred years. He was a dead man. The spiritual mana and the tinge of familiarity sensed by the devil clansmen said otherwise.
Along with Kise, Kuroko and Mayuzumi felt nauseated by their presence, mostly due to their innate vast spiritual mana as members of the Kuroko clan. "What are those?!" Mayuzumi groaned.
Himuro frowned. They weren't just zombies. They were corpses belonging to people who were once famous. World-class assassins, samurais, strategists, soldiers, shaman, even ninjas. The mastermind has given the war some thinking. These zombies had unlimited stamina, infinite spiritual mana. To top it all, they could use techniques they wielded while they were still alive. It was the worst-case scenario. Catastrophe-class.
"Don't worry!" Kise gave the company a bright smile. "Akashicchi and everyone out there will protect us! Teiko is our home and our land. Humans have no chance in the hidden realm."
Himuro nodded. Unless granted permission, no human could survive in the hidden realm for a long period of time. The dense spiritual energy makes them sick. An average human body is not made to house such a concentrated spiritual energy, only few with exceptional capabilities and experts who deal with the hidden realm on a daily basis have a chance to survive. People like the Kuroko and the Himuro clan.
Kise and the omegas watched from the windows with a small smile. His words were right. Aomine's bloodlust on the battlefield was something to be feared of. He was the general of To'ou, and one of the royal warriors. Kise sighed as they watched Aomine charged through the frontlines drenched in blood. His bad habits had resurfaced.
"Those who fear death, withdraw." Akashi's sonorous voice roared. Only fools would approach closer to the forbidden fruit. Seeing no changes, Akashi and his clansmen grinned, their fangs elongated, protruding from their upper lips.
The Akashi clansmen. Among the citizens of Teiko, they possessed distinctive features that stood out from the rest. Crimson red hair and bloodshot irises. Akashi, as the next successor and the young master of the Akashi clan, was special even among the clan. Only individuals who possessed the Emperor Eye could inherit the blood of the moon. The clan of devils. It was one mistake the enemy had miscalculated. It was soon full moon. The clan of the devils draw power from the moon. And on the night of the full moon, they were at their strongest.
The day of Blood Moon.
"Kise." Akashi spoke through a formed telepathy link. Kise was a fox spirit who uses spiritual mana as his main medium. He figured Kise would be able to detect and intercept what he was about to do. "When the promised moment is upon us, capture that idiot."
Kise's brows arched. "Yes, sir."
What comes next was a complex turn of events. Even Kuroko was rendered appalled and astounded by the unfolding of events. As if everything was meticulously planned, down to its intricate details. A hooded figure had appeared, boldly materialized before Kise and the omegas. Mayuzumi and Himuro had their brows arched, wondering if their minds were playing tricks on them. It appears that wasn't the case.
