ARIYAH awoke to the sound of the owl on her window patting its beak against her European, black window frame. A smile automatically laced her lips, the familiar reason to push herself out of her bed recalling in her head as the brunette pulled the duvet off and slipped her nightgown on until she met with the snowy, white owl."Hello, Marlboro," She grinned with the nickname Sirius had given the poor animal as she took the letter from its beak and bowed melodramatically.
But this time the aroma of the bird wasn't warming and loving, it was quiet and still on the window ledge unlike all the other times before. Ariyah knitted her brows but shrugged it off to be her thoughts playing with her mind.
Her bare feet carried her across her tiled apartment and over to where the oven was, switching on the hob, placing the full kettle over the flame as the nail of her index finger slid under the perfectly sealed parchment and took the letter from its shield.
Excitement built up within her body without the worry of what was to be said in the letter from Sirius, everytime she woke up on Sunday morning all that lingered her mind was what he would say, how she would respond, and then how long the seven days would take until another was met on the window ledge.
Luckily, there was only to be another week until the two were reunited again. She craved his embraces, kisses, morning cigarettes, and the feeling of his skin on hers more than anything.
𝓓EAREST 𝓐RIYAH
I don't know how to say this without hurting
the one woman I had never desired to bring
pain to. Every beat of my heart craved
for this to work, for now, is the time
that I must make clear to myself all
hope between us is gone. You have such a good heart
and such a beautiful brain
that it's intimidating.Ariyah's eyes became glass as her hands began to shake, the piece of parchment between her fingertips almost unreadable with the sudden blurred vision. Her heart had sunk already, a dip in her belief as she forced her thoughts into thinking anything that was to happen, wouldn't. How could it? They loved one another, everyone with eyes saw that. So why couldn't he?
You could be anything
you want to,
have anyone
that you want tooDon't settle for me.
Her watering eyes settled with the bottom of the parchment, the three words that usually appeared there had now come to an end. The promises to be with her forever and always had now become changeably nothing.
All the weight in her legs had become loose as she turned into a fatigue empty soul, her bare knees met with the ground whilst no words could leave her lips in the processing of recent declarations. Her heart was heavy and her ears were numb, putting two and two together as she heard pounding ring through her body in neglect.
That time, Sirius was with her as her safety mat, the stop her from the fall. But now, she had nobody to fend for herself but her own shattered soul.
Her eyes clenched closed as she brought her hands up to her face and buried her features between them, tears immediately wetting her fingers and palms without awaiting as sobs left her lips.
