They ended up at the bottom of a...hill? Man, they had to climb up it, thought Drax.
------------------------------------
Huffing loudly, they eventually made it up to the top of the...wait. It was a cliff. As they strolled towards th edge, hoping to find the soul stone, a hooded floating figure drifted casually over to them.

"Arthur Douglas, father unknown, but Kronos made you Drax the Destroyer. Mantis, daughter of Libra." the hooded figure spoke in a raspy voice.

"Who are you and what do you want?"spoke Drax, obviously nervous of how he knew much about them.

"Oh, it's not what I want, it's what you want," the weird skull guy said.

"The soul stone!" exclaimed Mantis. "Do you know how we get it? Something feels wrong."

"A soul for a soul," spoke the skull dude, as if he had recited it many times before. "Oh and also, keep it inside the circle. Useless for you and messy for me."

This was all he said before drifting back to wherever he came from.

"I will do it," spoke Mantis firmly.

"Huh? Do what?" questioned Drax, still oblivious to the plain fact. "Oh, wait a second. A soul for a soul? Do we even have souls? If we do, do we just get that...that...skull, non-human dude to get them outta us?"

"Drax...we need to jump. One of us needs to jump," explained Mantis, trying very hard not to cry, but failing miserably.

"Oh...oh...OH. Well, I will do it. I am a man."

"No, Drax! It must be me. I can't let you do this!" wailed Mantis.

Drax gave her a huge hug, then one last look at her.

"Mantis...you aren't ugly. You are beautiful. On the inside and out," he spoke warmly. "I will be reunited with my wife and daughter now."

Then he jumped.

"NO! DRAX NO PLEASE! NO COME BACK, I NEED YOU! DRAX!" sobbed Mantis, as the resounding 'thump' of his body hitting the rocks sounded quietly.

Mantis cried herself to sleep. Little did she know that the soul stone was going to be clutched tightly in her hand when she woke up, and she would be in a lake. But she did know that she would travel back alone.

No-one to make her feel good about herself.

No-one to make her laugh hysterically.

No-one to make her happy.

Ever again.

He was gone.

Gone for good.
