"No No No! Sam make sure your feet are planted before you pull off a kick like that. Remember you—
"Need to be balanced. Yes, dad I get it." Sam LaRusso responded to her fathers critiques of her sparring.
"Mr. LaRusso, with all do respect you have been a little too focused on Sam lately." Miguel Diaz said panting, still out of shape from his time he spent in a coma.
"You're right, don't take any offense to this Miguel, but if you're not at 100% come time for the tournament Sam may in fact be our best chance of getting rid of Cobra Kai once and for all."
"That's not true I would take her out right now!" A voice came in the back, his spiked red hair pointing up to the bright sunny California day. "If all you do is focus on Sam then how are we going to get better?" Hawk questioning Daniel's authority. "Sensei Lawrence, please tell me you agree."
"Hawk, he may not be completely wrong, but you're right, we have to focus on everybody. Robby and those new recruits are no joke. We need all the power we can get." Johnny added in.
"Come on, I feel like I'm doing a good job, just let them come to you guys first, the best offense is a great defense."
"Shut it LaRusso, guys listen up, you need to strike first before your enemy otherwise—
"This is my dojo Johnny we're going to win this my way!" Daniel shouted as the two former arch-rivals stared each other down in an intense stare down.
"Oh boy" Miguel leaned in and whispered to Sam, "here we go again." Just as Miguel said his last words, Johnny and Daniel busted out their best moves and were at each other's throats again, battling it out just like it's 1984.
"Dad!!" Daniel and John froze in their tracks. "That's enough from both of you! We're not going to stand a chance against Cobra Kai if we continue to beat each other down! This is exactly what Kreese wants right now. He knows that you and John will never be able to co-exist. We need to prove them wrong if we're going to be able to take down Cobra Kai."
"She's not wrong." Added in the pale Demitri.
"I know, look we'll call it a day guys. Everybody go home we need to discuss some things." Daniel let out some heaving breathes.
The students mumbled under their breathes, as their doubt increased with every practice. It was just Sam, Miguel, Daniel, and John at the Myagi Do now.
"Dad, seriously, what the hell are you thinking half of the time. We've been practicing for a week now, and every practice starts off good then ends with you two fighting. You guys are grown ass men, act like it! Sam demanded clearly frustrated that the Senseis' lack of competence.
Everybody was pretty shook by Sam's outbreak.
"She's right man, what are we doing?" Johnny said disheartened at the lack of success from this dojo merger.
"We need a plan, stay for dinner guys, while we talk back at my house." Daniel proposed.
"That sounds great I'm in!" Chimed Miguel before John could refuse.
"Ya, that sounds good." John let out a quiet groan that Daniel definitely heard.
Back at the LaRusso household*
Plates were being clanked with forks and knives as the family and guests chowed down on one of Amanda LaRusso's famous recipes.
"Well since Miguel and I are both finished we're gonna go up to my room if that's cool with everybody."
"Okay but leave the door open!" Shouted Daniel as Sam and Miguel ran holding hands up the stairs.
"I'll leave you and John alone, come on Anthony." Amanda days dragging along Anthony, Sam's younger brother.
"How do we fix this man?" John finally broke the awkward silence.
"Defense before offense, it's simple."
"No, my philosophy works, Miguel who's an absolute nerd got first place last year with it"
"You mean Kreese's philosophy?" The silence was even longer than the last. That one caught John off guard and quite frankly made him sick. "It's never too late to change how you think, the strike first mentality can only get you so far, not just on the mat, but in life John."
"I know exactly what you mean but it's too late, if I change how I think my kids are going to doubt me."
"That's likely to happen, not going to lie but you have to do this. Even if it's for now, we need to be United in order to beat the enemy."
John took a long sigh contemplating Daniel's words. "I can't believe that I'm about to say this but you're right. But I'm only going to do this for now, when we beat Cobra Kai I'm going back to my original teachings."
"That's with me John, at least you'll be on board for the tournament. We need to get everybody on the same page." Daniel said smiling as the two formal rivals shook hands. "Lemme go get us a couple of drinks!"
"So about what happened in the dojo.."
"What about what happened in the dojo?" Sam said with a mischievous grin on her face.
"Does this mean I'm getting a second chance?" Sam has never heard Miguel so desperate and nervous before and her heart fluttered a bit.
"As long as you promise not to hit in the face too hard." Sam said laughing at her own joke.
Miguel's face full of regret and sadness swept over his nervous demeanor. He slowly bowed his head in shame. "Oh, Miguel I'm sorry I only meant it as a joke I'm so sorry."
"It's ok It's just that was a bad place in my life and I just want to forget about it you know?"
"Ya, I'm sorry that was bad on my part. Let's just move past it. There was an awkward silence between the two as they stared at each other. "So, who do you think is going to be your toughest match up in the tournament?"
"I couldn't tell you, the seeds haven't come out yet people are still registering. Let's just say I hope I don't get seeded with Tory or Robby."
Sam flinched her head in rage and fear hearing both of their names. Sam didn't think that they were necessarily better fighters than her and Miguel, but she didn't think she was ready for them mentally. Sam was still pretty shook about what happened at school despite most of that being water under the bridge. She couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of guilt when it came to Robby. "I wish Robby didn't find out about us the way he did."
"It wouldn't have mattered, he would be angry at us if he caught us or not. We just need to ready for him. Quite frankly I don't think I am."
"Why do you say that?"
"You know why, Sam. You see me out there, I'm huffing and puffing I'm just so rusty."
"I would be too if I were in a coma. I told you you'd over come the odds when you were told you wouldn't be able to walk again. I believe in you, you need to believe in yourself, Miguel."
Miguel looked Sam in the eyes, "Thank you Sam, that means a lot to me."
Sam put her hands on his, "Of course."
The two share a deep kiss as their lips brush each other's until Miguel and John leave.

The bell rings as a tall guy about 6'3 with dark brown hair almost black walks in, wearing a black and white plaid hoodie, ripped jeans, and cheap sneakers. "John Kreese, are you here?"
"Who is it it's 10:30 at night what do you want? We're closed."
"Hello Kreese, you my contract."
Kreese let's out a few dark chuckles. "Oh this is going to be good my friend."
"Let's talk."
