Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023Scorpio's POV
There's a loud thud outside of the Spanish classroom moments after Señora Martinez walked Taurus outside. I didn't even think before rushing to the door. Taurus unconscious and is sprawled out on the cold tile floor. Señora Martinez was obviously freaked out, her eyes bulging out and mouth agaped.
"Can you get her to the nurse?" She frantically asked. "I'll call up there and let them know she's on the way." I scooped Taurus up in my arms. Her small body was limp. I rushed down the hallways, making my way down to the nurse's office.
The trip felt like a blur. My heart was stuck in my throat. There were a few moments where I looked down and noticed how Taurie looked like a doll with her dark, long eyelashes and full lips. The freckles dusted across her face were cute. I reached the nurse's office and was instructed by Nurse Frances to lay Taurus down on the bed. The sound of the paper covering crinkled as her weight shifted on it. I sat on the adjacent bed and watched as Nurse Frances checked her out. She checked her pulse and her temperature. She then grabbed a blood pressure cuff and checked that too.
She didn't say anything to me before leaving the room. It was dark. The light that seeped into the room was from the door being slightly ajar. I could hear Nurse Frances on the phone with Taurus's mom. Both of Taurus's parents were working right now, so neither would be able to pick her up. I knelt down beside her and brushed her hair out of her face. I immediately backed up when she began to stir and eventually wake up.
"Scorpio?" Her voice is faint.
"You good?"
"My head hurts," Taurie groaned, clutching the back of her head.
"You hit the floor pretty hard." I smirked. "Sounded like someone dropped a Hydroflask outside."
She breathed out a quick laugh. "Shut up."
"Were you stressed out or something?" Taurus was completely fine when I saw her during fourth period. When I saw her before Spanish, she seemed a bit off, and I just wrote it off as her being irritated. I reached out for her leg and began to rub her knee for comfort.
"Maybe a little."
"You still stressed about Golden Crest?" I tilted my head. "You're totally gonna get in." She choked up, and I then knew that that wasn't the reason she was stressed. What the hell could have Taurie stressed enough to pass out? It's barely been a week into the school year. She wasn't stressed about the video from Trixie Pulse. I'm scavenging through every interaction I've had with her to find something she would be stressed about.
"I don't think I wanna tell you."
"But you tell me everything."
"I know, but this is it's so stupid."
"Dude, I'm not gonna judge you." I paused. "Unless you're gonna start dating Capricorn again."
She overdramatically gagged. "Don't even joke about that."
"Gotcha gotcha. Then what's got you in a tizzy?"
"I'm not telling you, Scorpio. It's like actually the stupidest thing ever."
"You haven't fainted from stress since your dad accidentally threw away your book report poster for Ms.Abernathy, and you had to recreate it the morning it was due. What's up with you?" I nudged her leg. She was still protesting my question with silence. Somewhere within the conversation, our faces have gotten closer and closer together. I just realized it now, and my heartbeat quickens. Since when is Taurus cute?
