Wednesday, August 16th, 2023Virgo's POV
The final bell rang, and I headed out of my last period class and headed to my car.
"Hey, Virgo!" Capricorn called after me.
"Yes, Cap?"
"Wanna go vinyl shopping? There's a sale going on at Charlie's. Two for $30."
"I would love to go; however, I have to pick up Winona from school."
"She can come with us. Come on, this is like the best sale of the decade. We have to go!" He whined.
"I'll see if she's willing to go then I'll text you the answer."
"Are you really go to let a five year old dictate what you do with your life?"
"Uh... yeah." I shrugged my shoulders. "I did agree to babysit her today."
"UGH, you're no fun." Capricorn sighed dramatically, throwing his hands up into air.
"Sorry about that." I got into my car and drove over to the primary school. The pick-up line was ridiculously long as it was most of the time. It was wrapped around the building and pooled out into the highway.
"This is absurd," I muttered under my breath.
I suppose I could understand the length of the line. It was the first day of school, and entrusting a bunch of five year olds on how they were supposed to get home probably wasn't the smartest idea.
I turned up the volume of the radio, the sounds of '80s rock drowning out my irritation. I sat in the stop and crawl line for fifteen minutes before a teacher came up to my car window. I rolled the glass down, so she could talk.
"Hey Hun, who are you here to get?"
"Winona McCarthy."
"Alright!" She went off quickly then returned with the small child dressed head to toe in JoJo Siwa merchandise. Winona opened the car door, and she strapped herself into her pink booster seat. The teacher closed the door as soon as Nona was safely buckled in.
"Hey Bubba!" She chirped.
"Hey Nona." I pulled out of the school's driveway. "How was school?"
"It was fun! My teacher's really nice!"
"That's good."
"Hey Bubba, can we go get icecweam?"
"Alright."
"YAY!"
I knew Cap was already at the vinyl store. He was a sucker for those old school records. The ice cream parlor was only a block away from Charlie's Records, so I could manage to swing by and pick up two albums while keeping Nona happy with ice cream.
~
I held the five year old's hand as we walked from the ice cream parlor to the vinyl store. Capricorn's beat up Sedan was sitting in the front of the small store. Wow, did I know my best friend or what.
Winona was enjoying her strawberry soft serve with extra rainbow sprinkles and chocolate syrup. That should keep her busy for a while. Ten minutes and thirty two seconds to be exact.
I opened the glass door, a bell ringing queuing my entrance to those inside the store.
"YOU ACTUALLY CAME!" Capricorn screamed before running up to me and Winona. "You didn't get me any ice cream?"
Pisces's POV
I was bus left. Gemini, Cancer, and Libra left school the second the bell rang. Then my brother Fisher wasn't picking up his darn phone, so I had to walk home. The sun was beating down on me for the entire duration of the walk. Today was a horrible day to wear such a thick sweatshirt. My clothes were sticking to my skin, and my hair was matted down with sweat.
