The sound of the night fills the carriage, the lights having been turned off and mountains eliminated by the moons gentle glow. The train goes through them at a steady pace, more seats vacant than the ride earlier that same day. A small group of people sit together, three men and one unconscious woman.
Your head rests on Toriko's lap, hair hanging over your whole body like a thick blanket, the thorns long gone. Komatsu has you backpack next to him having grabbed it just before you left sitting opposite of Coco who sits next to Toriko. They both look to Komatsu, questions burning in their minds.
"Komatsu." Coco finally breaks the unsettling silence, " How exactly did you meet y/n?"
The chef fidgets in his seat a bit worried about what is happening to you and if you are alright, "I met her just before Toriko. I was getting out of the bus that took me to the mountains he was at and she landed on top of me."
"So she actually fell out of the sky." Toriko muses, brushing a strand of hair out your closed eyes, "Did she say anything?"
"W-well. She said she was in her room and the next minute she was falling. She told me about herself and she seemed pretty normal, except. . ." Komatsu visible pales as he remembers all the times you asked him about ingredients. Even the most basic that were common seemed to amaze you and once he caught you researching names of simple ingredients. He didn't think much of it at the time, just thinking you wanted to grow some of them and didn't have access to them wherever you lived and wanted to expand your knowledge.
Coco senses his discomfort, "It's okay, Komatsu, if you need more time we can wait." He smiles gently. 'Something isn't right. The prophecy I had mentioned of a visitor, I'm not 100% sure it's her, but she is definitely hiding something'
Komatsu mumbles something, causing Toriko to ask him to speak up. "She . . . doesn't know about anything."
"Huh?" Toriko says.
"She doesn't know about basic ingredients, or anything else really." Komatsu stares at you, "It's like she never went into the outside world! But at the same time she knows stuff?"
All sit in silence, contemplating what was just herd. If that is the case then-
"That could explain some things." Toriko sighs scratching his head with a small groan, "She has this smell to her, I'm not sure why but it's like the most basic ingredients. It's faded a bit now but still there."
"What do you mean by basic?" Coco asks.
Toriko shrugs, "Just that. Onions. Chicken egg. Roses. Beef and a whole lot of stuff like that." He lists, remembering a few plants he could identify as well but not needing to list them.
"Seriously?!" Komatsu shouts making you curl up in your sleep. They all watch you expecting you to wake up, but you stay still, seeming content hugging your hair, curled up in a small ball.
It takes a second for Toriko to nod, "Every time you see her eat, does she have this amazed expression or seem to enjoy normal everyday food more so that expected." He asks eyeing Coco. 'He knows something'
Komatsu stiffens and nods.
Coco closed his eyes and rests his head against his seat, "I sense no ill intentions from her however, there is something she is hiding. I don't usually like to pry into other peoples lives but it seems y/n at the moment is a different story."
Komatsu suddenly comes to a terrible question, "Is she human?" He instantly covers his mouth, the question having just slipped out by accident.
"I think so, at least partly." Toriko says, "Coco, could you read her waves?"
