They sat together on a small bench waiting for the taxi to come and bring them to their separate homes, tension building in the air around them as their legs touched and no one made any attempt to move. Fiona leaned her head against Spencer's shoulder in a little bit of liquid courage. "Do you ever get used to it?" She asked with hope, "Get used to what?" Removing her head from his shoulder she looked up at him to see him staring back at her, "Seeing those awful things, I know it gets worse but if I can't handle little things like a child abduction how do I know I'm even fit for this job?"

Her voice was filled with disappointment and self consciousness, and Spencer could feel a small ache in his chest. Choosing to ignore it he tried his best to give her advice, "Fiona, I saw you in that interrogation room, you were amazing and I'm pretty sure Hotch thought so too." Even though Hotch is the last person he wanted to bring up right now he thought she should know her boss thought she was doing well, "I don't think of us could have gotten the answer out of him that fast, you think fast on your feet. Of course all these cases get to us sometimes and that's part of the job, but I think there isn't anyone better for this team than you."

He made eye contact with her once again and saw hers were slightly wet with tears, she blinked them away and hugged him. It took him a little by surprise but he didn't reject it, it was a nice feeling, he was warm and smelt of peppermint and vanilla. He noticed how she smelt like lavender, and after pulling back he missed it, a blush crept its way on both of their faces as the taxi arrived. "Where to?"

"Capital Plaza Apartments." Fiona and Spencer replied, looking at each other. They lived in the same apartment? The car ride was quiet but it was a comfortable silence, both of them thinking over the night and wishing it didn't have to end, Fiona went to pay but Spencer insisted instead, she didn't see the point in arguing. Spencer helped her up the stairs as she was still a little tipsy, "What floor are you?"

"The third." He brought her to the door as she fumbled for her keys in her purse, "Uh oh" Fiona went through her purse three times by now, pushing her hair out of her face she was starting to get worried now. "What's wrong Fiona?" She looked up at Spencer with worried eyes, "I might have left my keys with Garcia.." Spencer's eyes widened at this, "What how?"

"I was worried that someone might take it out of my purse since it doesn't close and all that, I must have forgot to ask for them back." Sure it was embarrassing and dumb but what could she change about it now, Garcia is most likely passed out by now with Derek taking care of her. "Do you...maybe want to stay at mine? I'm just the floor above you, and I would sleep on the couch and you can call Garcia tomorrow to get your keys." It wasn't the best plan but it seemed like the only option so Fiona hesitantly agreed and they went up to Spencer's apartment, him being a gentleman and opening the door for her. She mumbled a thank you while taking in his apartment, the walls were painted a dark olive green with book shelves on the side and a desk in the corner. "Your apartment is quite nice Spencer, no TV?"

He shook his head. "Hmm, not surprised. Have you read all these books?" Nodding, he was suddenly very nervous having Fiona in his apartment, it wasn't very clean and he definitely wasn't prepared for company. Noticing it was already 1 am Fiona yawned and sat on the couch taking off her shoes, "What are you doing?" Spencer asked, he didn't want her to sleep on the couch, him now being a host and all. "Going to sleep? Unless you had other plans?" The tone of her voice was almost flirtatious, ignoring it Spencer simply said, "You shouldn't have to sleep on the couch, you can sleep in my bed Fiona."

"I'm not taking your bed from you Spencer."

"It's not a big deal, you need sleep."

"Yeah so do you, and your not sleeping on the couch in your own home."

He sighed in frustration realizing how stubborn Fiona is. "Fine. Let's both sleep in my bed then." This was bold, even for Spencer but she was way too exhausted to argue and agreed, they walked to his bedroom which was very cozy and warm. The girl realized she was still in jeans and work shirt and looked at Spencer timidly, "What's up?" He had changed in the bathroom into silly Christmas pajamas even though it's the middle of the year, "Do you happen to have any extra clothes? There's no way I'm sleeping in jeans."

"Oh-yeah of course, the top drawer there has sweatpants and stuff, take whatever you want." She nodded and went to his drawer, biting her lip to stop a chuckle when she saw his underwear on one side. They had funky patterns all over then, eventually she settled on a large college t-shirt and some grey sweatpants. She was still intoxicated when she removed her shirt and Spencer choked on his tea he was drinking, Fiona was changing in front of him. He turned his head not to look as she changed into his clothes, then climbed into his bed next to him. It didn't seem like a big deal to her so he decided not to mention it.

Spencer had to admit, she looked really fucking good in his clothes, but he shouldn't even be thinking like this about his co-worker. It's wrong, this is a one time thing. This is only because she forgot her keys and was too stubborn to let him sleep on the couch-

Fiona had turned around in her sleep and cuddled up next to Spencer laying her head on her chest. He froze at the sudden contact but melted into it eventually, he knew she was asleep, her breathing was even and her lips were parted. She looked so beautiful like this.

"Good night Fiona" Spencer whispers barely even able to hear it himself, and he fell asleep with her head on his chest hoping this would last forever.

But he knew it couldn't.
