It is the year 1943, the German Reich utterly defeated and humiliated in the Battle of Stalingrad has fallen back into the Ukrainian fields, beating back the Soviet Union and regaining the initiative after the crippling counterattack at Kharkov.
With the German War Machine and Economy being unable to supply an offensive in a whole front or single army group.
Army Group Center and the recently regrouped Army Group South with Battle Group Kempf mass over to the large pincer around the town of Kursk.
While the allied forces prepare to land in Sicily. Additional german units have been sent to the Italian peninsula to prevent any treachery from the Italian government.
July 3 1943 40km SE of Kharkov German Supply Depot
The brilliant mind and miracle man of the Wehrmacht, Field Marshal Erich von Manstein is finalizing his plan with the other OKW officers.
He is unsure if Citadelle would work if the Fuhrer keeps sending panzer divisions and motorized units to Italy.
A messenger approached the Field Marshal with news and orders from Hitler himself.
1.The Rzhev Salient has been evacuated to strengthen the lines and to bring additional troops for the upcoming offensive.
2.The SS divisions will not be under command of any Wehrmacht officers including you.
3.The capture of Kursk is of utmost importance so we will resume our advance into Leningrad and cause a stalemate.
4.Additional troops has been sent from various fronts to aid in the desperate attack.
