Kwazii led Peso out of the HQ, grasping onto his hands. "Come on, matey. We don't want to miss it," he said.
"We aren't going to miss the lightning, Kwazii," Peso insisted. He never thought he would ever say that, but there were a lot of things he would say that he couldn't ever imagine himself saying.Back in the HQ, Dashi was glancing over the weather radar one last time. "The storm is getting unusually close now," she said. Barnacles looked over at her.
"What was that, Dashi?" he asked, somewhat calmly.
"The storm is getting pretty close, even though it didn't say it was supposed to," Dashi replied, "but it won't be a problem. Maybe just a few showers, but that's about it."
"All right..." Barnacles muttered. He froze and looked up. "Has anyone seen Kwazii and Peso lately?" he questioned, turning around again. Dashi paused.
"Now that you mention it, I haven't seen them since dinner," she added. Barnacles backed away from the center of the room.
"I'm going to check the launch bay. I'll be right back," he said, and as soon as he left, Tweak came rushing in.
"Hey, was the captain just in here?" she asked. Dashi looked over at her.
"Yep, he just left to go to the launch bay," she said. Tweak raised an eyebrow.
"Why did he go to the launch bay?" she questioned.
"He's trying to find Kwazii and Peso. No one's seen them since dinner," Dashi stated. Tweak immediately started to laugh, but she slapped a hand over her mouth. Dashi turned around to look at her.
"What are you laughing at?" she questioned Tweak. All Tweak did was hold out a hand and tilt her head to the side, as if she were suggesting something. Dashi was extremely confused, but after a few seconds, she got it.
"I know what you're thinking."
"I mean-"
"And now I'm thinking about it," Dashi said, blinking a few times. Tweak just started laughing hysterically again.
"I'm sorry I put that image into your head," she apologized.
"They haven't even confessed yet! And I don't think they will if we mention this to them," Dashi said, trying not to laugh. They both stared at each other, trying to hold back laughter.
"You have a point," Tweak said, nodding.Kwazii was checking the radar one last time down in the launch bay, just to find a spot in between the Octopod and the storm so they wouldn't be far from home and so they wouldn't get hit with lightning. He didn't want to look like that again.
"I think I found a place," Kwazii said, trying to figure out where it was exactly.
"That's good!" Peso said from the GUP-E. Kwazii turned around to look at the medic. He was looking at the screen inside the GUP, trying to find where the location was that he just displayed. Kwazii just stared at him, fighting the urge to screech. Peso looked up, noticing Kwazii just staring at him.
"Something wrong, Kwazii?" he asked. Kwazii violently shook his head.
"Nope. Everything is going good," he said. Peso took that in slowly, and then grinned. The two were just staring at each other before Barnacles walked in."Am I interrupting something?" he asked. Kwazii looked over at him.
"No," he said extremely quickly. Barnacles looked at Kwazii, then to Peso, then back to Kwazii.
"I just wanted to know where you guys were going," he said.
"Oh, we're just going to see the lightning! I can't remember the last time I saw something like it," Peso exclaimed.
"Oh, all right. Just be safe," Barnacles said.
"We know, don't worry, Captain," Kwazii insisted. And in less then a minute, the two were on their way to the surface."Which way is the lightning?" Peso said, looking up and around in the sky. Kwazii looked down at the radar.
"Well, it depends on which way we're facing," he muttered, but as thunder roared overhead and as lightning flickered in the clouds, they knew exactly where to look now.
"There it is!" Peso exclaimed, pointing in front of the GUP. Kwazii whipped his head around to take a look, but nothing was there. "It was just there!" Peso whined.
"I didn't see it-" Kwazii started before another round of heat lightning flickered overhead. The two just looked at the sky, adoring every part of it.Peso leaned his head on Kwazii's shoulder. All Kwazii did was sit there, trying not to scream.
"You know, now that I think about it, things have been more calm around the Octopod than usual," Peso said. Kwazii looked down at him.
"You really think so?"
"Well, aside from the whole thing with the arm injuries, but other than that it's been really calm." Kwazii looked back up at the sky.
"I feel like something is going to happen," he said.
Peso sighed quietly. "Why do you say those things in the middle of this kind of conversation?"
Kwazii chuckled. "I don't know, but whatever is going to happen, I bet it's going to be good."Ouch. He was wrong.
