Oneshot war- 4 -Nico's Birthday

In honour of Nico's Birthday, the prompt this week was Nico's birthday. I hope you enjoy it, here's my story! Also, the flavour I chose might not make sense but trust me.

Nico

I stare at the calendar. It can't be right. It says that today is my birthday. I rip the calendar off the wall and throw it in the trash. No. No. No. It can't be my birthday! I quickly change and run out the door to the woods. I hate my birthday. Me and Bianca used to celebrate it together every year. I feel bad celebrating it without her.

I reach the woods and rush inside. I keep running until I reach my destination. An abandoned treehouse. I found it a year ago and I've been going to it ever since. I climb inside and sit on the bean bag chair I put in. The flower crown Will made me hangs by the window. I put it on and grab the blanket Hazel gave me for Christmas.

When me and Bianca celebrated it was small. Usually just two cookies we would clink together like a toast along with flower crowns. Bianca always made me a flower crown on my birthday and I did the same to her. We didn't have much but I loved it and honestly, I don't want to celebrate my birthday any other way.

But of course, that can't happen. Jason, Will, Hazel, and Reyna have been insisting that I have a birthday party ever since they discovered my birthday. I told them no but they kept asking, and asking, and asking. So I got mad. I feel bad now but I can't do anything about it. Sure, I could apologize but I'm not giving them the satisfaction.

QQQUUUAAACCCKKK!

I jump and accidentally fall down the hole in the floor. I know, I know, bad design. But I didn't make this place! Blame the Demeter cabin or whoever made this thing. Although I could fix it so I guess it's partly on me. Never mind that!

I crash onto the ground and look around for what made the noise. I spot a small noise box hiding in a tree. Bingo. I rush over, climb up, and grab the thing. Who in hades put this here? I glance around. Not a trance. Weird. I put the flower crown and the blanket back before making my way back to my cabin.

Time Skip

I reach my cabin and suddenly something crashes inside. What?! The lights flick on and off before the curtain twitches and the cabin goes dark. I grab the handle and push the door but it doesn't budge. It's locked. I didn't lock it. I push it again and it still doesn't move. I drop to the ground and feel around in the grass. I know I left a key he- Wait! I can shadow travel!

I blimp inside and flick on the lights. Annabeth, Percy, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Piper, Jason, Reyna, and Will all stand inside holding a birthday banner. Balloons fall from the ceiling and confetti explodes everywhere. They all smile and yell surprise. I tune them out. Why? Because my cabin is trashed, people are everywhere, and they went behind my back to do something I didn't even want!

They notice my expression and the noise dies out. A balloon pops and a final confetti popper explodes. Someone throws a glowstick necklace on me and the banner falls, covering me. I glare at them. Some smile awkwardly and others seem to shrink under my glare.

"Nico. Calm down. There's no reason to be upset." Will steps forward and tries to pat my arm. I wrench away and glare at him.

"There's no reason to be upset? There's NO reason to be upset!? There is a reason to be upset! My cabin is trashed and you all went behind my back to do something I didn't even want! I told you I didn't want this! I told all of you I didn't want this! I was fine with doing nothing. I wanted to do nothing. But you ruined it!! You ruined my celebration and you ruined my tradition." I scream until my throat feels hoarse. Then I turn around and stomp out.

I break into a run when I reach the woods. I know exactly where I'm going and soon enough, I'm there. I climb the rope ladder and sit back down in the bean bag chair. I rip off the glowstick necklace and throw it out the window. Instead of the clunk, I should hear when it hits the ground, I hear nothing. I lean out the window and almost fall out. Jason stands there holding the necklace and a slice of what looks like chocolate cake.

I grumble and head down the ladder to take the cake - I MEAN GREET HIM! Yeah, that's what I meant. I reach him and immediately grab the cake. Well, attempt to grab the cake. He yanks it away at the last second and holds it above his head. Stupid tall Jason and his stupid long arms, not letting me have cake.

"Nico. I understand why you're upset but it's your birthday! Be happy. At least until tomorrow. Then you can go back to being Mr. Grumpy-Pants." Jason says. I glare at him for calling me Mr. Grumpy-Pants and lunge for the cake. He switches hands and keeps holding it up high.

"We were trying to do something nice for you!" He continues as I climb up his body to reach the cake, "Be grateful that you have people who love you. Some kids don't get that." He finishes. I grab his arm and swing down across it. He switches hands and I dropdown. Ugh. Why won't he let me have cake?

"Ok ok yadda yadda yadda. Give me cake!" I say. He laughs and finally hands me the slice. Ooo. Chocolate is my favourite! I take a big bite and....... spit it back out immediately. UGH. That was disgusting! Definitely not chocolate. Jason laugh and sits and a branch of a nearby tree. I sit beside him and demand to know what flavour this is.

"Eggnog and peaches" Jason snickers. WHAT?! That is the most disgusting flavour I have ever heard of. He continues to laugh and laugh. I just glare and dump the cake into a bush. the squirrels can have that.

Jason starts talking about how they made the cake. I tune him out and instead think about my birthday. It wasn't the greatest, but I made some memories and I've been through worse.
