Jana Calmiken has never been very handy. She was raised to be efficient behind a blaster, and as the most accurate shot out of her siblings, she never really had to worry about fixing up ships or making repairs; She's a poor pilot anyways.
When she was assigned to the Mandalorian, however, she had to learn. Much of her knowledge comes from Kuiil on Arvala-7 the first time they had to put the Razor Crest back together.
Now, with a barely together ship, courtesy of a Mon Calamari on Trask, the assassin finds herself fretting over the wiring of a malfunctioning control panel in the hull, huffing in frustration.
After accidentally shocking herself for what feels like the millionth time, the brunette gives up, letting out a line of swear words from the short jolt of pain and dropping the tool she had been clutching in her hand.
Jana climbs the ladder to the cockpit, raising a brow when she sees Din crouching in front of an open panel in the wall, saying, "No, no, no. No, the red one. Show me the red wire. The red one."
"What are you doing?" Jana asks, drawing Mando's attention to her.
"Repairs," Din bluntly responds.
Jana looks around the messy cockpit, noticing the absence of a little green monster, "Where's the kid?" When Din doesn't respond, she crouches next to the Mandalorian and peers into the panel he's in front of, seeing the Child within the framework of the ship, a wire in each of his little hands, "Part of me wishes I didn't ask. We're teaching him electrical engineering now?"
"Neither of us fit in there."
"Fair enough," The Child turns towards them and Jana repeats Din's words from earlier, "The red wire."
The Child holds up the correct chord, "Yes, good," Din praises, "Now you're going to plug that red wire where the blue wire goes in the board," The Child coos, and Din continues, pointing as he speaks, "Put the red wire where the blue wire goes in the board, okay?"
Jana watches as the kid turns to the board, looking at the two wires in his hands but not doing anything, "I think you're confusing him," Jana mutters.
"I'm not confusing him."
"He looks confused."
"He's doing fine," Din insists.
Jana looks back to the Child, narrowing her eyes at the wires he's holding and coming to a small realization with her small amount of knowledge of the wires in the ship, "Kriff," She lowly mutters, "Hey, buddy, those wires are oppositely charged, okay? Do not let them touch."
The Child's ears perk up at her words, and he lets out a babble in response, still seeming clueless.
"You see where you took the blue one off?" Din continues, the kid raising the blue wire, "Yes. Now put the red one-," The Child plugs in the blue wire, making Jana purse her lips knowing the poor thing is confused no matter how much Din denies it, "No, don't put the blue one back. Put the red one where the blue one was. And put the blue one where the red one was."
"The wires, Din,-"
"I know," The Mandalorian nods, "Be careful, kid. They're oppositely charged, so keep them away from each other. Make sure you hold them apart from..." The Child looks down curiously at the set of wire he holds in his hands, Jana's heart beating a bit quicker when the distance between them seems to lessen significantly.
"No," Jana calls, "Hold them apart, they're too close, they're gonna-" But, Jana doesn't get to finish her sentence, because the wires meet, making sparks erupt as the Child is shocked by them, smoke emerging out of the panel.
