By the end of the day, two more bodies had been located - one in the boiler room and one outside behind the office. Blue quickly reported the situation to Headquarters, while the rest of the crew went to clean up the corpses.
In Storage, Black and Purple sat on two crates, speaking in low voices. They had finally finished cleanup, and the five teams had split up to process the shock of their discovery in their own ways.
"What do you think happened?" Purple asked, rubbing her arms and shivering. Black shook his head slowly, still slightly dazed.
"I can't say for sure... obviously somebody killed these guys. Every one of them - stabbed or had their neck broken. My question is, who did it, and why?"
"And where are the others?" Purple mused.
He glanced at her. "What do you mean?"
She shrugged. "Mira HQ sent ten volunteers. Ten. Not three. We found three bodies, right? That leaves seven people missing. Where did they go?"
Black chewed his lip. "I don't know..." he looked up, straightening. "But we're going to figure this out, one way or another."
Purple gave him a tiny smile. "For a rookie, you seem so sure of yourself."
He felt his face warm slightly. "I'm not. So much could go wrong... but I'm determined to do my best on this mission."
She nodded, clasping her hands over her knees. "As are we all."
Black stood. "Then we all stand a good chance of figuring things out, here."
Purple joined him as they headed out of Storage. "And until we do, we just need to stick together and pick up where the others left off. There's still a lot to be done on the base."
He nodded, biting his lip. She glanced at him, forehead wrinkled slightly.
"Are you scared at all?"
He shook his head, not wanting to appear weak. "No."
She nodded. "So am I. But don't worry. We'll figure this thing out."
