Chapter 5

I woke up to Justin and Tiffany talking. Henry wasn't there beside me, he wasn't anywhere to be seen. "What's wrong with that dog! He didn't want to leave Ella's side when I took him out to the car.", I heard Justin tell Tiffany. "Well honey, you know what? Every time Ella goes to sleep, Henry does too. And always right by her side. I think we should keep them away from each other for a bit. Ella always does what we tell her to do, let's have a talk with her.". Justin nodded and called me over.
I stood up and walked over to where Justin and Tiffany were sitting, I looked over at Mia and she was still sleeping. "Ella, do you like Henry? One lick yes, two licks no, three licks you don't know.", I sat down by Justin, I licked his hand three times. "Ok, so you don't know.". I looked up to Tiffany. "Justin, honey, I'm not sure she understands. She's a dog.". "True, I'll take her home. She can sit in the front with me.". Tiffany nodded as Justin tried to put my leash on, but I wouldn't let him. Tiffany stood up and walked over to me, I sat down and let her pet me. But a second later, the leash was on. 'Aw crap, I should've known.' Justin tugged on my leash and took me outside.
Once we got outside, I heard Henry barking. Justin ignored him and took me to the passenger door, and I jumped in, I looked back and noticed Miles wasn't in the car. Justin dropped my leash and went around to get into the car. "Ella, why are you up there?", Henry asked as Justin got into the car. "I don't know, Tiffany and Justin think it would be best if we weren't around each other for a bit.", I told him, but I didn't look back at him. "Are you mad at me?", he sounded worried. "What do you think, I woke up to Justin talking to Tiffany about how you wouldn't go to the car. He said you wouldn't leave my side. I can take care of myself you know!", I snarled at him. "Yea, but that's because I don't want my friend to get hurt.", he sounded hurt instead of worried this time. "I understand. But again I can take care of myself.", I told him. That's when we pulled into the driveway, and the conversation ended.
Justin got out of the car and came around and opened the door I was in. "I trust you to got to the bathroom, and then go right inside through the dog door. I licked his cheek, and jumped out of the car. He wasn't holding my leash. I went into the yard and went to the bathroom, then walked to the back door and into the house through the dog door. When I walked into the living room, I saw Miles and an older lady, she had short, white hair, she was tiny, and extremely wrinkly. "You must be Ella.", she said as she stood up. "I wagged my tail and walked over to her. "Grandma," Miles said, "Daddy said he wanted Ella upstairs and to tell her to stay up there. She'll stay, don't worry.". Grandma nodded, and pointed to the stairs, "Upstairs Ella, and stay there." I walked over to Miles, sat down, and looked up. "She isn't listening." Grandma said, as Miles chuckled. "That's because she wants her leash off.", "Oh, ok. Now-" Grandma started to say. But before she could finish, I ran upstairs and into the bathroom. I stuck my head in between the window and the curtains. I saw Miles run outside to Justin, tell him something, Justin said something back, and Miles ran back inside. Justin opened the car door and Henry leaped out. Justin took him into the yard to go to the bathroom. I heard something coming up the steps and I saw Miles come into the doorway of the bathroom. But he didn't come in, he just closed the door. I didn't mind that the door was closed.
I went back to looking out the window, Justin and Henry were coming inside, now I minded that the door was closed. I started to bark and scratch at the door, but no one came. But I did hear a dog sniffing, "Who's there?", I whispered. No answer. "Hello?", I tried again. And again, no answer. I went to lay down on the bath mat. Then someone opened the door. I was on high alert, I started to bark and howl. "Ella, stop, it's me.". I looked up and it was Justin holding Henry's leash. I got Henry's scent, he was in Justin and Tiffany's bedroom. I walked over to the bedroom door and sat down. 'What am I doing?', I thought to myself. 'They said to stay away.'. "Ella? Is that you?", Henry asked from the other side of the door. "Yea, it's me, but I can't stay. Justin's waiting for me to go downstairs, I'll talk to you later." I told him. I stood up and went downstairs before he could say anything else. Justin stayed upstairs and went into his and Tiffany's room with Henry.
I walked over to where Miles was playing and sat down beside him. He picked up one of my toys and threw it, it was a little pink ball. I ran after it and attacked it. I ran back to Miles and dropped it at his feet, he threw it again, and again, and again. I eventually got tired and laid down, it felt weird not having Henry at my side. I then fell asleep

After my little nap, I stood up and walked over to the door. "Do you have to potty, Ella?". Justin asked me. I wagged my tail and he stood up and walked into the kitchen. I ran into the kitchen and waited for my leash to get put on. That's when Henry started barking. "Henry probably needs to go too. I'll take you out and get him.", Justin said. He took me out and dropped my leash, "Stay in the yard, Ella.". I gave him a lick on the hand. He went inside to get Henry.
A bit later Justin brought Henry outside. I was expecting Henry to try to get to me, but he didn't. "You know where you can and can't go. You can roam around the yard.". Justin said as he dropped Henry's leash. I had already gone so I was sitting by the play set, watching Henry. He was sniffing around, and found where I went, and he went too. Justin was sitting on the step, looking at his phone, not paying any attention to us. I walked over to Henry and sat down. He hadn't noticed I walked over, "Hey, Henry.". I said. He turned around and said, "Hey, this is all my fault.", "What do you mean?", "I didn't think you could take care of yourself, do you think we could start over?". "Yes, I would like that.". I told him.
We walked over to where Justin was sitting. He looked up and said, "You two aren't supposed to be together.". He picked up Henry's leash and was surprised Henry didn't fight back. "You're ok now?", Justin said. He looked at me and I licked his hand. "Ok then. You two can be together.". Henry and I started jumping up on Justin and licking him. "Guys, no.". We immediately stopped, and sat down. Justin pointed inside, "Inside.", he said. We walked inside through the doggy door and sat down. Justin came in behind us and took off our leashes, gave us a treat, and gave us each a kiss on the head. We laid down and fell asleep in the bed.
