Today was the day Miguel came back to school, and I think I was more nervous than he was. Miguel was finally walking by himself, after a lot of training with Johnny. I was very proud of my brother.

I stayed close to his side as we entered the school, with Vinnie on the other side of me. Everyone applauded my brother, a 'Welcome Back' sign hung from the railing of the staircase. I grinned up at my brother, who smiled as he slowly entered the school, waving to familiar faces, and shaking a few people's hands.

I hadn't told Miggy about what went down with the Cobra Kai kids, as I didn't want him to worry about me. Karate was far behind me.

That's why, when Hawk walked up to us, yelling his usual "El Serpiente," I simply smiled, accepting his nod toward me.

"What's up?" Miguel said, as they did their bro hug.

"Welcome back, man," Hawk said.

"Feels good to be back," Miguel admitted.

"What's up, Camila, Vinnie?" Hawk asked us with a small smile.

"How's is goin' man," Vinnie replied, fist bumping him. I grinned.

"Hey," I replied. Hawk looked back to Miguel.

"They give you bionic legs or some shit?" he asked my brother, and Miguel looked at his feet.

"No, same old boring human legs," he said.

"Oh, yeah? Can you throw down? Gotta defend that title," Hawk chuckled, throwing fake punches. Miguel laughed. "Gotta get through me first. Dude, Cobra Kai is crushing it right now,"

"Literally," Vinnie said under his breath, and I bit my tongue.

"I've actually been meaning to talk to you about that," Miguel began, but the bell cut him off. "I'll talk to you about it at lunch,"

"All right, sure," Hawk replied. "Catch you guys later,"

"Yeah, for sure," I smiled. It was weird. Like, just because I was no longer fighting, Hawk had a sudden soft spot for me--or maybe it was just because we were in the presence of my brother.

Vinnie and I followed Miguel as he was greeted by more people in the halls. We saw Demetri standing at his locker, and my breath hitched when I realized his cast.

"Hey, the Comeback Kid! Welcome back!" Demetri said to my brother. "Camila, Vinnie, how are you guys?"

"Yeah, we're good, D, thanks," I grinned, before looking at his arm.

"I hope to make a similar triumphant return to the land of the mobile appendage masses," Demetri said, referring to it.

"What's up with the cast?" Miguel asked for all of us.

"Proximal radius fracture,"

"It smells," Yasmin said, interrupting the conversation. I rolled my eyes, forgetting she even existed.

"I put a lemon rind down there to mitigate that," Demetri said. "The invitation for you to sign it still stands," he held out a sharpie to her.

She scoffed. "Hard pass,"

"Ooh! Can I?" I asked, and Demetri nodded, handing me the marker.

"When you used to be a thorn in my tits, you were getting me an A in science. Now you can't even do that because you're defective." Yasmin said.

Miguel frowned, still looking at his friends' arm. "So uh...how'd you break your arm?"

Demetri looked down, hesitation clear in his expression. Vinnie and I looked at each other, both of us clearly thinking the same thing. This had to have been Cobra Kai's doing.
