His warmth spread across my entire being, engulfing me in safety words could never describe to full perfection. His large arms, his musky, sport-scented cologne, and even the small kisses he planted on my forehead had an unnerving power to demoralize my defences in a fraction of a second.

This man was dangerous. And he was all mine.

I still couldn't believe it.

Hell-- I still can't believe it!

He really was all mine and me, his--

"I'm really sorry to ruin this diabetically sweet moment," Rouge rudely interrupted my sentimental spewings. "But who exactly was--" and like that, she was dismissed by Blaze and Cream, who quickly shot her a deadly glare that screamed, "For the love of God, please be quiet!" And while Rouge was never someone to take orders from anyone or anything, she alarmingly did.

"Nevermind," she retreated. "... I'm just going to leave now; my files won't file themselves, will they?" She kid as a cover for her absurd and totally unusual behaviour. "I'm happy for you two. Really, I am."

And while she said all this, I noticed Cream's face unwinding and coming loose from all the anger it once wore a few minutes ago. And then it hit me and I totally realized why Rouge didn't complete her - probably snarky - comment.

The two girls were fighting--

And because of me!!!

'It's a lie.'

'It's a lie.'

'It's all a complete lie.'

'It couldn't be anything but that!?' Shadow tried too desperately to console himself - a desperate and useless effort.

"Dad, you're back!" A chippy, silver hedgehog with the loveliest violet strips ran excitedly in his direction, followed by a weary maid who trailed desperately. "Young Master! Young Master, your bath is going to get cold," she cried from exhaustion, but he gave her no heed.

"Dad!" he continued to bellow. "Dad! Dad!" Yet Shadow gave no reaction, too absorbed in his aloof, ghastly aura. The tall, strutting hedgehog mindlessly walked past the boy; his strides growing larger and larger with every step until he got the best of the little one.

"Is dad mad at me...?" the boy worried. All the while Shadow had stayed away from home, he lived with thoughts that it could all be his own fault, even though the hedgehog's erratic behavior was not only exclusive to his occupational absences, but also to his own blood-related family - and sometimes, he could disappear for months on end without sending a word of 'hi', 'hello', or even just to let people know that he was still alive and breathing. Where he went, nobody ever knew. But it was note-taking that his latest episode was awfully longer than his usual disappearances; breaking his record by a whole year.

"Y-Young Master! Young Master!" The panting maid finally caught up. "Your bath— It's going to turn cold—"

"Not now, Mary!" The boy sterned then continued to chase after his father.

The situation carried on for the next while as Shadow frantically scanned hall after hall, opening and slamming door after door in pursuit of his own father. And in-between these lightening moments of tensity, he would hear a desperate "Dad!" in the distance, or at other times,  whimpers like, "Dad, are you mad at me?!" or "Dad, I'm sorry!" boiling his blood further.
