Chapter 26

"So what happened?" I cautiously ask, watching as Drew sits at his desk chair while I'm sitting in the couch of his office.

When I left the room almost twenty four hours ago, Layton told me that I can just wait for him at his office and that he'll tell Drew where I am. Layton and Maybelle went as Drew's backup since they didn't want him to face his parents alone. I think it's sweet that they stick up for each other as siblings and I miss those moments with mine.

"Well, there's a small problem," he states, leaning forwards and resting his elbows on his knees. "Actually a big problem."

"What is it?" I ask.

"You know the other royal families around the world right?"

I nod, remembering what I learned from when Amber and Alex used to tell me about what they learned in school. I remember that Alex was really encouraging me to remember which royal family ruled which region saying that it's important to know these things. I know all their names but I just can't remember which area they rule. "Yeah, obviously your family. The Vice's, the Maven's, the Cartel's, the Rave's, the Hawkin's, the Azazos', the Raga's, and the Stein's," I list.

He gives me an impressed look which I bask in. "I didn't think you would know all of them. Not many people remember all of them, just a few. Anyways, majority rule is that none of them like dhampirs. The only ones that voted in your favor were the Hawkins and the Azazos, and that was only because their heirs have already taken over the throne for their parents so they weren't alive during the wars," he explains.

"So what are we going to do?" I groan, rubbing my forehead. "Drew, I don't want you to give up the throne for me. This means a lot to you."

"You mean more to me than the throne," he replies, standing up and taking a seat next to me. I turn so that I'm facing him and he takes my hands in his. "Sabrina, I know I'm not a great mate and I didn't treat you the best and for that I'm truly sorry. If I had known-"

"But you didn't," I interrupt, giving him a small smile. "I don't blame you Drew, I never could. But what are we going to do about it then?"

"That's the other thing," he says with a sigh, adjusting his position on the couch. "My parents still care about their reputation so they couldn't completely banish me. They have a solution but I'm not sure about it."

"What is it?" I ask, hesitant on whatever the king and queen has planned. It's not a secret that they want me gone, no matter what Drew says, so I wouldn't be surprised if the plan involves hurting me in the end.

"Karla comes from a strong family of witches, but she's the only bad one. We found her parents and we tried to come up with a solution to fix everything. Her parents are ridden with guilt and shame at everything that Karla has done, so they proposed a solution. Dhampirs are hated by supernaturals and humans alike, so the only way to fix it would be to wipe the memories of dhampirs away," he says.

I slowly shake my head. "I don't get it."

"Karla's parents have willingly agreed to sacrifice their lives and rewrite history. They claimed that it was their way to formally apologize to the royal family for the behavior of their daughter," he says, rolling his eyes.

"Witches can rewrite history?" I ask, my mouth open in shock. Karla has the power to do that?! That's dangerous!

"Only very strong witches can," he replies. "And no, before you ask, Karla doesn't have the power to do that. As far as I know, very few witches can. Her parents happen to be one of them."

"What part of history are they going to rewrite? Wait what's going to happen?" I ask. This is too much happening. Rewriting history is a big deal and for that to happen, witches have to sacrifice their lives. I don't like Karla, some might say it's hatred, but that doesn't mean that her parents have to sacrifice themselves to apologize on her behalf. She doesn't deserve that.
