Shikadai, Inojin, Boruto and Mitsuki spent the last two year training under the creatures they met, at a nine months mark they managed to seal the creatures inside their body, after that they had to work on controlling the large amount of chakra they received and learn how to use the abilities of the creatures and how to summon them.
So after a two full years of doing nothing but training, it was finally time for the four newly teens to leave the place they were staying at.

"You ready?" Mitsuki asked drix, who he had summoned in the form of a regular sized snake shortly after arriving at the body of water Aito told him about a year ago"Yes, I am ready. We can go" drix said
Mitsuki walked over to a seal with inscriptions on it, he poured the required amount of chakra on it causing the text on the seal to glow. Soon the letters of the inscription started to be rearranged around to form a different sentence that Mitsuki himself couldn't read. Nothing beyond that happened, the seal wasn't broken nor was the gate opened
"Now what?" Mitsuki questioned staring at the foreign writing, trying to make sense of it. No matter how much he tried, he just could not understand any of it
"It says in order for you to find the path, you must first offer something of value" Drix informed
"You can read that?"
"Somewhat. I'm not an expert" Drix answered
"Mhm" Mitsuki hummed "So. What is something of value that I have?"
"You can offer up your life. I'm sure it's valuable enough" Drix half heartedly joked but Mitsuki didn't take kindly to the joke. He grabbed Drix and offered him up "This is the most valuable thing I have with me. You can take it" he stated shaking around drix in front of the seal
"Wait. Hold on, you can't do that to me. I was just joking about your life, i didn't really mean it" Drix panicked and began wiggling around in Mitsuki's grip trying to free himself from his hold. Mitsuki didn't let up, he refused to give drix any room to slip away from his grip "Don't worry, your death won't be in vain" he assured as he placed drix down on the seal
"Mitsuki please don't do this to me" drix yelled as the light exuding from the seal changed in color. Mitsuki just stared at him not saying anything causing Drix to beg and plead even louder. Mitsuki still didn't react, he just stared just waiting to see what would happen next.
With Drix offered up as something of value, his value was weighed. Soon after the seal broke and the gate opened, Drix met the heavy value required to be given up.
"You're so mean" drix cried as he narrowly escaped death "I can't believe you'll sacrifice me just like that"
"You survived" Mitsuki pointed out as he took a step forward to the wide open gate "so quit complaining"
"I have every right to complain!" Drix yelled as he followed Mitsuki through the gate before it collapsed
"You really don't" Mitsuki stated

"You really have improved" Nix acknowledged as Boruto finished killing the last of the enormous caterpillars that reigned deep into the desert. This kill bringing a conclusion to Boruto's prolonged training in the area
"Of course I have" Boruto breathed, wiping away the sweat rolling down into his eyes "You didn't really give me much of a choice"
"Nothingless, you've done an exceptional job" Darth praised, joining in on the conversation happening between Nix and Boruto inside Boruto's head
