The next morning I woke up to the sound of a knock on my door. "Alexandra it's time to get up!" Mom said loudly from the other side of the door. "Five more minutes!" I pleaded still half asleep. "I've let you sleep long enough it's time to get up!" She yelled. "Fine" I mumbled to myself. "I heard that." She replied sarcastically. "Grr." I grumbled. "Breakfast is ready." She said before walking upstairs. Finally I thought rolling on my stomach. I had a terrible sleep. I kept dreaming that I was in parallel place but I was in this house, and I kept seeing some girl with hair as black as coal and skin as pale as a ghost wandering our house. I had no clue what it meant but I did know this, it was freaking me out. I pulled out my things from my drawers and got ready for a new day. When I walked out of my new room I could already see some improvements to the basement. The walls were getting painted a faded green colour and the leaky pipes had been repaired. I flipped a light switch. They were working. Happy and a bit relieved I made my way up the stairs. To my surprise the basement door had been replaced. Had all this been done over night? I turned the handle and pushed the door open. I took a deep breath, smiled and made my way into the kitchen. It was now painted a light yellow and had new furnishes. Mom was sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading a newspaper. "Good morning Alexandra." "Hi dad." I said, "What happened?" "You see while you were asleep some friendly neighbours noticed we were new and decided to help us get settled." He replied. "Wow that was nice." I said with a bright smile. I sat down across from mom at our new, modernized table. "Well you look a lot better." She said looking up at me from her newspaper. "It's just that the house looks so much more...so much more nicer than it was before." I replied a bit shameful of my actions the day before. "Didn't I say you were gonna love this place?" Dad asked playfully. "Love is pushing it, like is more suitable for this subject." I replied seriously, "The house isn't completely finished and there's still so much stuff to find out about it." "Go eat your breakfast" Mom said, "I'm going to work." I grabbed a fork and started to eat my breakfast. Dad left for work as well after I was done breakfast. "Love you Alexandra." Dad said kissing my forehead then rushing out to his work car that was parked in our new garage. Bye I thought as I was left alone in the house. Finally time to explore! I walked to the back of the house where a big white door stood. I opened it leading me to a place with more doors. How odd. I walked back into the house and grabbed a flashlight. I then unlocked the door. It led me to our back yard. What the heck? I walked back inside and opened the door once more. This time I found myself in a long hallway. I took a deep breath and walked forward. The long hallway walls were decorated with pictures of what I thought were images of the old residents of this house. I stopped at one that caught my eye. A picture of a little girl with hair as black as coal, and skin as pale as a ghost just like the girl I saw in my dreams. In this particular picture she looked rather upset, similar to what I looked like when we first moved here. It looked as if something was troubling her. I was a bit frightened when I saw a picture next to the one before that read, R.I.P Alexandra the First. I stood back in utter shock and confusion. Who was Alexandra the First? And how did she die? So many questions popped into my head. Did she live here before me? Was I named after her? Why did she seem so familiar? Why did she look like the girl I saw in my dreams? Not wanting the answer to most I proceeded back into the house and closed the heavy, white door behind me. I raced downstairs into my room. I grabbed my diary that I hid in my bottom drawer and started to write.

Dear Diary,
It's me Alexandra. As I told you I was moving to a new house that was famous for its history. My parents think it's great but I'm not sure they're experiencing the things I have. For example yesterday I saw something moving in the house, then I got stuck in the basement, thirdly I keep having dreams of some girl with hair as black as coal, and skin as pale as a ghost, and forth there's some weird door at the back of our house that led me into a whole new place. First it led me to a room with a bunch of doors. Second it led me to our backyard. And third...it led me to a hallway where I saw pictures of a little girl with hair as black as coal, and skin as pale as a ghost. And that's not all, the girl's name was Alexandra the First or something like that. I don't know what's going on but I can tell you this something is peculiar about this place.
Love Alexandra💘
