I was on my way to that Delmar's place my father recommended with my phone in hand, my headphone wires loosely coiled around my thumb. It was dark out, with minimal puddles soaking the sidewalk and red and white lights illuminating the cement.

I had a smile on my face as I walked down the street. It was ambient and calming. My new neighborhood was a lot quieter than back in Brooklyn but still felt somewhat safe. The sound of my music flowing through my headphones didn't cover up the city noise entirely, but I could still hear it pretty well.

There was nobody in sight, so I wasn't nervous to be out this late. I walked for a few minutes more minutes, stomping lighting in every puddle I came across, until I turned a corner to see a lot of people standing around a big building, searching the ground, probably for an expensive wedding ring or something. They all looked like scientists and there was a tall, bossy-looking man and a teenage boy with brown hair and a bored expression standing next to him.

I looked up at the tall weirdly shaped building and read the name stretching along the side in an interesting font.

Oscorp.

I started walking at a much slower pace and tapped the button on my phone to lower the volume of my music. I also removed one side of my headphones to purposely overhear.

A female scientist with red, long, hair hurried over to the bossy looking man.

"Mr. Osborn, we've been searching for a while now, but we still are missing one of our spiders. What do you suppose we do?"

The man looked at her with no emotion whatsoever.

"Keep searching," he said loudly so all of the people with their eyes peeled to the floor could hear, "If that last spider is not found tonight then none of you will be experimenting on more in the morning."

Everyone had started scurrying around fasting searching the perimeter of the building.

The teen boy next to the man scoffed and spoke up.

"Dad, in all seriousness, they've been trying so hard to find it for hours and you've just been standing around. It's probably it long gone by now."

The man sighed and looked down at his son.

"I fear you might be right, but I cannot risk losing another spider." he said soft and worriedly.

The man called everyone back into the building just as they all left my sight as I turned the corner. I placed my headphone back on my ear as I walked down the last hundred feet to Delmar's, yet I left the volume low.

They were looking for a spider, and that spider was part of a group that was altogether experimented on by those scientists, and those scientists were employed by that man.

Everything I had just seen and heard was repeating itself in my brain over and over and over again. It honestly sounded like what happened to Gwen and Miles, so I kept on the lookout for any spider just in case. But like the boy said, it was probably long gone.

I was pulled from my deep thoughts as I opened the door to the Deli, now starving. It was not too late so there was still people in there sitting and eating, I walked up to the counter while pulling out both of my headphones.

"Hello Ma'am," a man at the counter said, he seemed really friendly, "Welcome to Delmar's, do you need a minute to decide what you'd like?"

"No that's alright, I'll think I'll have a number five please. But could you add some pickles?" I asked.

"Sure thing, it'll be ready in just a sec."

He gave my order to a worker and turned back to me with a kind smile.

"I'm going to guess that you are new around here, am I right?" he asked with a small laugh as I returned the smile.

"Yup, just moved in from Brooklyn actually, how'd you know?"

"I know almost everyone in the city, and almost everyone in the city comes here since we have the best sandwiches in Queens!"

I laughed a bit, "My father told me that when he recommended this place!"

He smiled wide as he placed the sandwich in a bag and handed it to me.

"Well, I hope you think so, your sandwich is on the house, as a welcoming gift!"

"Are you sure? I don't mind-"

"I'm sure, don't worry just enjoy!"

"Thanks Mr. Delmar!" I exclaimed.

"No problem kid, come again soon." he waved as I started to walk away.

"I will!" I told him as a turned and opened the door to walk out.

I started to walk home, I decided to wait until I get there to eat my sandwich since I want to watch a show on Netflix while I eat.

I paused my walk in front of the big Oscorp building and stared up at it.

Could this really be where the spiders that bit Miles and Gwen came from?

As I was staring I didn't notice something crawl onto my converse.

I turned to continue my walk and still didn't notice something small crawling up my leg under my baggy jeans.

And I didn't notice something crawling up my torso.

And I also didn't notice something crawling up my arm.

And I definitely didn't notice that something stop at my hand.

Then it had the audacity to bite me.

Shit.

I looked at my hand and saw a spider.

SHIT.

I panicked and slapped it.

It fell to the floor and didn't get back up. I looked my hand to see two red holes on a small bump.

I was desperately hoping for it to just be a normal, boring spider but what are the odds of that.

I knelt down to observe it and it was cyan and blood red.

I just left it there and bolted. I ran with the plastic bag from Delmar's swinging on my wrist I didn't feel any different at first, just shocked. What would happen to me?

I guess I was about to find out because made it to my home and started feeling strong dizziness and pain. I ran into house knowing my dad still wasn't home since I didn't see his car out front. I pulled off the bag to fling it on the kitchen counter for later, but it wouldn't leave my hand. It stuck to my palm like glue. Even though I swung it around and around, it didn't release.

"The fu-"

I wacked myself in the side of my head with the bag which wasn't great since I was already starting to lose consciousness, but at least it got the bag off. I didn't bother picking it up to avoid it sticking again and I just ran to my room. My vision blurred and my hand was throbbing with pain and it felt like lava was running through my veins.

I slammed the door open and didn't even make it to the bed before collapsing right then and there.
