What am I doing on the floor?

My thoughts were loud as I lay there, cheek snug against the cold wood floor. Every nerve in my body ached even though I was completely still. I felt as though I had spent thirty consecutive hours at the gym working to strengthen every singular muscle.

Feeling stiff from sleeping on the hard floor, I pressed my hands to the floor by my shoulders to help push myself up when I felt a sharp stinging pain. The veins in my right hand were increasingly noticeable, they were red and blue in color and led to two small holes in the back of my hand. As I sat up, I inspected the damage that spider had done to me, thinking about how the actual fuck a strange spider just happened to bite me.

That's when the memory returned to me. I had passed a group of people searching for a missing spider. A spider they had been experimenting on. A spider that was so important it would've cost a group of scientists their jobs if they didn't find it.

I frowned as I remembered how Osborn threatened the scientists.

Now I feel horrible for killing it. Maybe they'll find the corpse at least.

As I looked at my hand and traced my eyes along the discoloration, my sight was brought up to my forearm. I thought it looked a little swollen. But as I kept looking up my arm, I realized I somehow had a noticeably large bicep? I rolled up my sleeve and flexed the muscle and did the same thing with my other arm. The spider bite made me buff?

I held onto the edge of my bed and lifted myself, shaking the stiffness out of my legs and walking over to my floor-length mirror. Was it at an angle or was I taller than I was yesterday?

Lifting my shirt, I was toned? I barely worked out, I would only attempt it if I found some interesting workout routine on YouTube but even then, I wouldn't be consistent enough with it to actually form abs.

I dropped my shirt and sat down at the edge of my bed. This felt all too familiar.

Maybe I was too out of it to realize yesterday, or when I was waking up on the floor, but now the realization was ramming into my brain like a bullet train.

This same thing happened to Gwen. She was bitten by a radioactive spider while she was playing the drums. Then all of a sudden, she's superhumanly strong, can swing around the city, and goes by the alias Ghost Spider.

Next was Miles. He was spray painting his art onto a subway tunnel with his uncle when he was bit. He also got stronger and stickier, then he too became a superhero: Spiderman.

My elbows were on my knees and my head was stuffed into my hands. I'm the guy in the chair, I'm not supposed to be another Spiderman. I can't be another Spiderman. I just can't. How am I supposed to be a superhero? I don't know where to start. I can't do this.

Well, at least not by myself.

As I stood up and picked up my phone off the floor, I realized it was dead. Of course, I couldn't plug it in last night due to the fact that I fucking passed out. I reached for my charger by my bed and plugged it in when I heard a knock at my door.

"Come in," I greeted.

"Hey kiddo, you sleep okay?" My dad asked as he opened the door a bit and walked in.

"Uh yeah, I slept alright," I stated sort of guiltily. I was hoping he couldn't notice that I was a little taller than the last time he saw me.

"Okay well that's good, I got home, and I found the Delmar's bag on the floor in the kitchen. Was it that bad?" he laughed slightly.

I had totally forgotten that I flung that bag like an absolute wrecking ball last night.

"Oh uh," I laughed a bit, "yeah I didn't get a chance to try it last night I was just so exhausted that I crashed as soon as I made it home. I tossed it on the table, but it must've slid off."

"Okay, it's in the fridge for whenever you want it. I gotta head to work now but I'll see you tonight," he walked over and gave me a hug which I happily returned, "Love you."

"Love you too, Dad. Have a great day."

As he walked out of my room and shut the door, I turned my phone over and checked the battery which displayed "5%" at the top corner of my screen. I left it plugged in as I sat on the edge of my bed and Facetimed Gwen and Miles. I looked at my alarm clock which read 10:18 AM, so they should be up by now. I waited a few seconds before they both answered from Gwen's phone.

"Y/N! " They had their masks on, and I could tell they were at the top of one of the many skyscrapers in the city. "What's up?"

I took a breath before I started what was about to be a long explanation.

"I need to talk to you guys about something that happened yesterday..."

Harry had decided to skip the rest of the school day. Not necessarily because he knew he could get away with it because of his prestigious father and reputation, but because he had an anxious feeling all morning that he just could not shake.

He didn't call his father's limo driver like he normally would, but instead, he walked the few blocks to the Oscorp building. He decided he needed the fresh air and the peace before he went to work replicating the spider, he had accidentally let free last night.

He didn't think it was that serious. His father had required his scientists to make several spiders, yet what he didn't realize was that this particular spider was special. He didn't know how exactly, but his father definitely made its importance clear as he let go the scientists who failed to find the arachnid.

Right before he turned towards the entrance of the building, something glowed in the corner of his eye. He kept walking straight until the small glow was right in front of his feet. Kneeling on the sidewalk, he pinched the small, dead spider in between his fingers and placed it into his hand, careful not to break off any of its fragile limbs. It twitched and sparkled in his palm as he carried it into the building, up the elevator, and placed it onto a tray in his lab.

As the spider's corpse lay there, Harry prepared to perform a DNA test.
