Y/N

It was just me, Gwen, and Miles. I was playing the playlist we made on my phone loud enough for the three of us to hear while we were riding swiftly through the streets of Brooklyn. It was a Friday night in the beginning of June, we had just snuck out of our rooms at Brooklyn Visions Academy and were off to start the weekend together.

I had brought my red and black skateboard, doing my best to avoid the cracks in the pavement. Miles also brought his skateboard, though his was yellow and he added some of stickers that he would design and then slap all around the city. Gwen was gliding gracefully but quickly in front of us on her pink, blue, and white roller blades.

The three of us have been friends for about a year now, ever since we were the "new kids" at school and started hanging out. The weird thing is, I'm the only one in our trio that doesn't have superpowers. I know both their secrets. Miles is Brooklyn's Spiderman and Gwen is Spiderwoman. They both can shoot webs, climb walls and do cool flips. I can't do any of that.

I don't mind though, it's really fun being in a friend group with two awesome heroes.  It's also fun to be the only one who could tell they both have feelings for each other. I've been trying to get the two of them together for so long now and they finally started dating last month. Being the third wheel isn't as bad as you might think. You want to know why? It's because when they go out saving lives, I become the guy in the chair.

I get to stay home and swivel around in a chair in my room, right in front of my monitor, and if Gwen and Miles are in a situation like, let's say a criminal ran off and they couldn't find him, I could tell them exactly where he went by logging into the city's public security system. My dad works for the city so you couldn't even imagine all the things I have access to through him. But since we are all so close, that means that if a villain were to find out their identities, I'm always one of the first people in danger. This problem has actually happened a couple times. I was actually dropped from the top of the Chrysler building once, though Gwen swung in and saved me. It was definitely scary, but yet an unique experience, I mean, how many people can say that they were dropped from one of the tallest building in New York and survived?

The three of us had just crossed the street and were about two more blocks away from my apartment. We would stay there for the weekend then head back to school on Monday, which my dad is perfectly okay with. All he wants is to spend time with me and make sure I'm alright ever since my mother died. Even though it's been a few years since what happened he never wants to talk about it.

We were about thirty feet from my apartment building's front steps and Gwen was skating in front of Mile and I. She saw a grey rock and speed up and jumped right over the stone. I noticed it too, so a pushed my foot across the asphalt and did a kick flip over it. I had just learned perfected trick with Miles at the skate park yesterday, after practicing it for months. I have been skating for about a year now and Miles started maybe four, five months ago? Me and Gwen assumed that Miles would ollie over it or swerve around it or at least notice it, but nope. We both stopped and spun around to see Miles's board stop drastically once it hit the rock and the tail flew up and threw Miles through the air. Gwen and I were staring at him, wincing knowingly at the fact that he was most likely going to scrape something in that fall, but he surprised us. He did a front flip in the air and did a perfect land. His knees bent, head down, and one hand in front of him. He looked up with a proud smirk on his while my chin was dropped and Gwen grinned. We all laughed and Miles grabbed his rolling skateboard and we walked up to my apartment.

I pulled out my apartment keys from the back pocket of my jeans after pausing the music. As we walked in, we placed our rides next the door and tossed off our shoes to get more comfortable. On the way to my room we ran into the kitchen to grab some snacks. Our socks made us all slip though, so we collapsed onto the ground and laughed. It was the stupidest moments like this that I love the most.

"Oh my, are you three okay?!"

We got up to see my dad holding a peeled banana with the top piece bitten off. He looked really concerned but also like he was seconds away from bursting into uncontrollable laughter.

The three of us assured him that we were okay and then we let out so much laughter we were back on the floor with tears of joy leaking out of our eyes.

Then a sudden wave of remembrance came over my father, and he looked a bit sad. I don't think Gwen and Miles noticed but I sure did. It always hurts me to see my father sad, because he often tries to be so positive.

"Hey dad, what's wrong?" I asked him.

The two that were still laughing slowly stopped and looked up at him.

My father meet eyes with me and they looked almost guilty.

"Is it alright if we talk alone Y/N?" he asked.

"Yeah sure," I helped Miles and Gwen up and said, "you two go wait in my room, I'll be in there in just a second. Maybe put on a movie or something?"

They both nodded understandingly and walked off to my room.

"So what's up?"

"You do remember that I was searching for a new job right?" he asked me.

"Yeah, you said that you were getting tired of working from home? Did you get a new job or something? That's awesome!"

He smiled.

"Yes I did get a new job, a nice one that is also very well paying, but," he hesitated.

"We'll have to move."

My heart snapped. Not just in half, in thousands of tiny pieces. Each piece was a memory, made here in Brooklyn. I've only been here for a couple years but all my memories were with dad and-

oh no.

I'll have to tell Gwen and Miles, but how? Then I'd have to leave them, I can't! They're the best friends I've ever had and now I would have to start all over and make new ones? This is insane!

But I always look on the good side, so I'll find some ways to make this better. I can facetime them whenever I get the chance, and it depends on how far we move but I might be able to visit them? I just didn't want to get mad or lash out my dad, he wasn't happy with his old job and he already seemed nervous to tell me so I should at least be accepting. Even though I'll lose the coolest job ever.

"Oh okay, well where?" I asked.

"Not that far, only to Queens. That's where our new apartment is."

"Okay yeah that's not as bad as I thought, we can still come and visit though right?" I asked, gaining more and more confidence that my life wouldn't be changing as much as I thought.

"Yeah of course! It's not a very long drive anyways." He said now smiling that I accepted the move.

"Well, what kind of job did you get?" I asked curiously.

"I'm going to be working for Stark Industries!"
