Chapter five
"We accept the love we think we deserve."-Stephen Chbosky
Lola felt like shit there was no sugar coating it or talking around the bush it was plain and simple she felt like death had become her, and it wasn't pretty. It was January now and she did not want to be here at all but because she cared about her education and wanted to maintain her GPA she sucked it up besides it was only eight hours of school how bad could it be?
The answer was very bad she thought as she sat in her first class of the day which was French class a language she thought was going to be pretty fun and easy she wished she could go back in time and slap some sense into her younger self for not taking art class. Her head was laid gently in her arms as her French teacher droned on and on about what he did over winter break. She groaned, wanting him to shut up, not knowing him, and the rest of the class heard her. "Am I boring you, Miss lahote?" He asked arms crossed and glaring hotly at her. "No, sir, I just have a raging headache." She partly told the truth she indeed has a headache, but she also wanted him to shut up or to actually teach them something usefully. "Maybe you should have stayed home then." He said, and for some reason, that very statement made her angry, but she swallowed it down with a tight-lipped smile.
"May I go to the nurse?" She asked quickly, getting up when she got a nod of the head. On her way, her body began to get hot sweat dripping down her face. Trying to cool off, she took her jacket off and began unbuttoned her flannel shirt, which hid a black undershirt. She stumbled a little into a locker and sighed in relief at the cool sensation. She closed her eyes and stayed there until she felt a gentle hand rest on her shoulder, making her jerk her head up to see a worried malia. "Lola, are you okay?" She asked as she felt the heat radiating off of her best friend.
"Lia, I don't feel well." Lola mumbled, resting her head on Malia's shoulder. "Come on, let's get you to the nurse." The two walked in silence all the way to the nurse where the nurse had malia sit with Lola while they waited for Paul Lola's brother to come and get her.
Paul came and picked her up ten minutes later, spewing questions left in right, asking her if she was okay, and if she had a fever. He, of course, knew what was happening. Lola was shifting. Lola had passed out ten minutes into the car drive she had cooled down a bit, but she was still fairly warm. Groaning, she shifted her head to lean onto the window, not opening her eyes one bit.
