The Midnight Cat {Finnian X Reader}

Ch 12

I cupped my mouth to keep myself from getting sick, I nearly tripped over my own feet whilst backing away from the terrifying scene in front of me. The shed door was opened wide and filling the small tool shack nearly to the brim was a pile of half eaten corpses; some new and some old, some of them tumbled down from the pile as the door gave way and the smell grew stronger. There's no way Akira could have done this, I haven't even left the mansion..

"N-no... this isn't possible.. My lord! Sebastian! I-I haven't left the mansion since I got kidnapped, there's no way Akira could have done something like this since I haven't been letting her use my body!" Ciel was turned away from the shed and had his nose pinched shut and Sebastian looked at me with a pitied look.

"I regret to inform you that we found it may be completely possible Akira has been doing this. That man we saved you from seemed to have some valuable information on the matter, it would be best we head inside to continue this discussion. I'll clean up this mess later."

Ciel had already began walking back towards the manor before Sebastian finished speaking. I took a moment to catch my breath as Sebastian placed a hand on my shoulder and walked me back as well. While walking through the halls I took notice of how cold it felt, I wrapped my arms around myself trying to both warm myself up and sooth my nerves. We turned down a hallway where we ran into Finnian and Mey-Rin who quickly dropped what they were doing to rush to my side.

"y/n? Is everything okay? you don't look so well?" I glanced up at Finn who was looking at me with worried eyes, I glanced over at Sebastian who motioned that I could stay before reminding me to meet in the study when I was done. Mey-Rin gently rubbed my arm before walking off the give Finnian and I some alone time.

"Y-yea.. Just a bit stressed I suppose." He sat me down against the wall before sliding down next to me, he let me rest my head on his shoulder and when I took up the offer he wrapped his arm around me and combed his fingers through my hair. His touch was very light, it was as if he was afraid if he pushed even slightly too hard his monstrous strength would destroy me. We didn't talk at first we just sat in a comfortable silence but of course with Finnian being Finnian he wasn't able to stay quiet long. His leg bounced as he struggled to keep his mouth shut, it was sort of cute how he was trying so hard.

"Finny darling?" He hummed in response still keeping his mouth shut, I had to bite back a snicker when I glanced up at his face. He looked as if he were about to explode from holding his mouth shut for so long. "My dear.. could you please tell me a story?" He took a long deep breath before finally opening his mouth to speak; and oh how he spoke. His voice immediately went up a few octaves as he went on a happy tangent about a pet bird he once had, I made sure to listen to every word and every side story he accidentally branched off into in the process. I studied his expressions as he talked about each thing finding it rather soothing seeing how expressive he was when he spoke.

"Say y/n, you let me speak for quite some bit but you 'aven't said a single word.. You looked a bit frightened when you came in, is everythin alright?" I took a moment to respond, I wanted to tell him about what I had just seen and what seems to be happening but I wouldn't want him to worry and more than he has been.

"I'm fine Finny, I suppose I just haven't been sleeping well these past few days. Now, I thank you for worrying about me my dearest but I must be on my way to meet with the young master." He nodded and stood up helping me to stand as well, his hands lingered still holding onto mine own as he rubbed his thumb along my knuckles. His fingers felt rough from work but the sweet gesture was still extremely comforting. He placed his forehead against mine and closed his eyes.

"I'll be here for you if you need me, I really do hope things get better for you. You might end up just as stressed as Sebastian is!" We both laughed from the little jab although Finnian did take a break to be sure the demon butler wasn't anywhere near the two. "You get on going. You should meet with me in the garden, it might help you to relax." He gently kissed the back of my hands before letting them go. He ran off down the hall presumably back to work, he waved just before he turned the corner out of sight. I decided I too should get back to the task at hand and began making my way through the manor towards the study. I took my time approaching the door feeling uneasy and far from ready to deal with that was soon to come. I knocked on the young lord's door, the sound of my knuckles rapping against the heavy wood echoed in my ears. I heard a stiff 'Come in' and slowly opened the door, I stepped into the glumly dressed office and curtsied as my eyes met with Ciel's.

"I'm ready young master, I need to know how Akira was able to do such a thing." Ciel motioned for me to come take a seat in front of his desk which I hesitantly walked towards. Once I sat down I finally took notice of Sebastian standing off to the side silently, it sent a shiver down my spine how I hadn't noticed him at first. The devilish butler joined my side at the desk and took some papers from the desk and put on his glasses.

"I need you to listen carefully y/n. This information will be very important to both you and the people around you."

Alrighty~ I am so very sorry for not posting in so long but as you may know I released a new story which was a secret project of mine! I will be returning to updating this fic as often as possible and I do hope you enjoy~

Up top I also hope you noticed I redrew the described y/n in my current style, I tried to make her look more ambiguous so she wasn't just a default white skinny girl. Also if anyone would be interested I was debating making a new Finnian (Or any desired character) x reader but either with other gendered readers or a more ambiguous y/n.
