"Any chance you could grieve a little less catastrophically?" Remus griped, pulling his shawl tightly around him. "I just had to trek up to Olympus for some actual warmth." And to get laid by my hot-as-hell boyfriend, he added privately.
"Don't you have a torch?" Demeter said, raising an eyebrow.
"The flames don't give off heat. They're for dramatic lighting, aesthetic, and destruction purposes only."
Demeter sniffed. "Of course you'd go for an unpractical route. This right here is why you're not an Olympian."
"I'm not an Olympian because Zeus is pretty discriminatory against Titans," Remus snapped. "And since I'm descended from Titans, and I'm not some flashy, first-gen god like you are, I don't get to be part of your big-shot fancy god club."
"Good. It's bad enough that Dionysus was accepted, even though their mother is mortal, but you would've thrown the Olympian roster into chaos."
Remus rolled his eyes. "Look, I think I got a good lead on where Patton is, so can we stop arguing and---"
"Every single lead has been a dead end," Demeter interrupted. "I have a better solution."
The "solution's" probably ditching me. "Yeah? What?"
"We consult Selene."
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit shit shit shit shit shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!
Remus willed himself to stay calm. "Why---why Selene?"
"Don't you see? The abduction happened at night!" Demeter said, actually looking excited. "Of course Selene would have seen it! I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner, but, of course, the weather's been hiding the moon lately, so it wouldn't have come to mind---"
"Maybe she didn't see it," Remus cut in. "She can't see everything that happens, right? And hey, she and Helios are usually focused on whatever shenanigans Zeus is involved with, so---"
"Don't be ridiculous, of course she saw it," Demeter said, waving a hand. "Oh, this is perfect! I can finally catch the miscreant who stole Patton from me!"
Oh gods. Ooooooooh gods. This is not good.
Maybe I can still warn them. If I can zip down to the Underworld in time and tell everyone what's up---oh, who am I kidding? I'll never be able to do that without being suspicious!
"Do---do you want to go alone?" Remus said carefully.
Demeter sighed. "No, you should come, too. You're his friend, after all, and it's probably best that you know what happened to him."
"But---"
"Let's go! We have to be quick about this! I can't stand to wait any longer!" Demeter grabbed Remus's wrist and materialized both of them out of the clearing.
They reappeared in Selene's throne room, where the goddess in question had her nose buried in a book. Demeter loudly cleared her throat.
"What is it?" Selene said, looking up.
"My son was kidnapped six months ago," Demeter told her. "I've been searching for him ever since, mostly being lead by this idiot---" She pointed to Remus--- "but I just realized that you surely had to have seen it."
Selene gave her a judgemental stare. "Why?"
"Because it happened at night, and the moon was almost full. You had to have seen who it was."
"Maybe I did," Selene mused. "Me and my brother do see many things on our daily travels. Remind me, what does your son look like?"
"He's short, he has round glasses, his skin's light brown and his hair's a few shades darker, his hair's also curly, and he always wears light blue," Remus interjected.
