292 Words. TW WARNING CANNIBALISM, CHILD AND CHARACTER DEATH.

The air was humid, and sweat dripped off my forehead. Dry leaves crunched under my worn down sneakers, no matter how lightly I tried to step. I kept one hand on my hunting knife, which was tucked into my pocket. Something was wrong. No twittering bird song from above, no sign of the usual rabbits or squirrels. Just me. The smell of rotting corpses hung in the air, like a heavy  weight.

Once in a while I would see a symbol scratched into the bark of a tree; a ragged sun with a devilish grin. I knew I was in enemy territory, specifically in the heart of the Crimson Sky 'tribe'. It was less of a tribe and more of a cult. It was a dangerous thing to be anywhere near this stretch of forest, but the thought of someone harming my little sister, Srisa, kept me moving forward.

Earlier I had found something horrendous. A dead child, which wasn't very terrifying on it's own, but there were mouthfuls of flesh torn from the corpse's limbs and face. I was positive that the child had been killed and eaten, or the other way around. The idea of someone eating one of their own kind was revolting.

I halted as the sound of rustling leaves sounded above my head. I looked up just in time to see a man drop down. His weight threw me off balance, and I lost my breath when I hit the ground. I didn't even recover myself, when I felt a set of teeth sinking into my skin. "What the hell?!" I screeched as he kept trying to tear the flesh away from me. He turned his head towards me, and wacked me with a stick, knocking me out.

Yeah a lot of these are gruesome... But anyways I hope you enjoyed none the less!

I love you, go eat something, go sleep if it's late. You are such an amazing person and you should know it.
