🌙

When we got to the park, there were few people there, other than a small kids' birthday party. The park looked especially beautiful this afternoon, the leaves golden and streams a clear contrast to the bright green grass. The breeze trickling through the tall trees added a light of movement to the scenery, and the laughter of the kids topped it all off. It was rare to find the park in a pretty state. The pollution and smoke of LA often took over and covered the much more unique aspects of the park. It wasn't too big, but not a small park either. There was a small hill overlooking the park, and that's where me and Sab headed.

When we got to the top, Sab laid down a blanket and took out a pretty brown picnic basket, filled with fruits and nuts. She passed me the grape Koolaid, and I drank it eagerly. It was my favorite drink. Sab had her coffee, which I thought was disgusting, but whatever.

We stayed up there for a while, talking about life and college and Connor. Talking about Connor made me smile. I convinced her to watch anime with me, and I pulled out my switch, playing Attack On Titan, since Sab had never seen it.

"Wow." I looked up from Eren' on the screen and watched as Sab gaped at the sunset. It was amazing. The sun was sticking out from the horizon, painting the sky in orange and pink. Blue outlined the parks features, and the air was crisp and clean. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, letting the oxygen seep through my nose and into my body, taking over me and going out in a burst of gratefulness. I laid down on the blanket, pulling my arms behind my head and looking up into the sky. Sab put on calming music, before laying down beside me and closing her eyes.

It's You by Ali Gatie played softly through the speakers and I let my mind wonder to my person. Connor's face lit up in my mind, smiling, laughing, tickling my side. His muscular arms holding me near and switching the TV off when I fall asleep during our anime nights. Locking the room when he leaves, when I can't. Giving me a pretty necklace, spotted with butterfly's dangling off the golden chains. He was my one. He was it. I love him.

I love him.

I opened my eyes in realization, before closing them with a smile and falling into a sense of peace. We stayed like this for a while, before I heard Sab curse and I got up, turning to her. She was on her phone, rapidly texting.

"Are you good?" I asked her, cocking an eyebrow.

"Yeah, yeah, its just that my 13-year-old neighbor keeps telling me to come home, she has to tell me something important?" She glanced at me apologetically.

"No worries, I'll tell her to frick off." Before she could, I grabbed her wrist and gave her a sad smile.

"That's fine. It's time to go home, anyway. Thanks for everything." She beamed at me and gave me a hug, before stuffing her things in her bag and rushing down the hill, muttering about 'idiotic little girls' and 'things to do'. I chuckled to myself and watched Sab walk rapidly across the park and into an Uber, before it sped away. I stayed there for a little longer, watching the last moments of the sunset and packing up my things, picking up our trash. No need to add to the pollution the park already contains.

I trotted down the hill, and as I passed the birthday party, a man came up running with a paper plate. It had a slice of cake on it.

"Hello, miss! We had an extra slice, and I was wondering if you wanted it?" He smiled a toothy grin at me, and I had to accept. That was so nice of him to think of me!

"Yeah, thanks!" I took the plate and kept walking. On the way, I helped an old man cross the street, saw a four-leaf clover, and helped a cat down a tree. This day was going by great. I saw a little boy crying, and gave him the slice of cake, which immediately dried his tears. His stressed mother was extremely grateful, and that made me smile. But it was a block away from my street when things started going bad.

I was walking peacefully, a smile on my face, when suddenly, a white van skidded to a stop next to me and the girl with the scar hopped out. I kept walking, but my smile left. Her jogging behind me was loud until she was walking beside me.

"I'm Karina." She held out a hand, but I ignored it. She scoffed and slid it back into her black ripped jeans.

"Eva." I answered. I started walking faster. She matched my pace.

"I know. I'v been watching you." I ignored her, but my eyes widened. I was right.

"Where ya' headed?" She persisted. I rolled my eyes, giving her a side glance. She was actually very pretty, with flowing brown hair and hard brown eyes. Light pink blush sprinkled over her cheeks, adding a sense of kindness and understanding. But the pink scar that bit through her face contrasted to her soft olive skinruined the image and made me look away quickly.

"Away from you." I muttered, and turned the corner onto my street, but was quickly stopped by a tight hand on my wrist.

"No, you're not." Karina looked me up and down and narrowed her eyes.

"Hey, you're kinda hot." She concluded, pulling me closer to her. I jerked away in disgust and pushed her back a little with my finger.

"Leave me alone, and just- just run back to your boss, Anna!" I snapped. Her eyes flashed with something dangerous and she grabbed my arm and yanked me back down the way we came.

"Hey, let me g- go!" I struggled against her tight hold, and I almost got away before the boy from before, Christian, ran beside her and lifted me over his shoulder, running back to his van. I pounded against his back, and slammed my feet into his stomach.

"What are you doing?!" I yelled at Karina from my upside down position. She ignored me and smirked.

"Lights out, sweetheart." I frowned, but before I could even ask what she meant, she knocked my head with something hard, and I was out.
