Eva (POV)-

"So, I guess its just you and me now, huh?" He asked. I ignored him.

"Piss off."

"Okay." And he did. He shut up. I looked up suspiciously.

"Really?"

"Yeah, sure, why not? Besides, what would we even talk about? Basketball?" I chuckled. He was funny, I'll give him that.

"Your name's Christian, right?" He grinned and slid down the wall across from me, so we were facing each other.

"Yep! And yours, Eva. But I have to ask, how do you know my name?" He cocked an eyebrow at me, and I grinned proudly.

"I sit in front of you and Anna." I avoided thinking about her. She's the reason I was here, and she's the reason Cynthia wasn't talking.

"Oh, okay." He nodded, twisting his fingers around.

"AndIstoleAnna'snotebookandlookedthroughitandyouwereinit." I said fast, blushing and looking away. His head whipped up to me, my eyes, his enlarged.

"You what?" He whispered, looking around rapidly. I rolled my eyes.

"Chill." I retorted. He looked away hurriedly and seemed to think.

"Wha- What was in it?" He gaped at me. I frowned. Shouldn't he know?

"Just a ton of... drawings and notes and stuff for school." He let out a breath I didn't know he was holding.

"Oh. Obviously. Of course. That makes sense, she's always taking notes in class." He muttered to himself, nodding.

"No, she's not." I argued, he looked at me and laughed.

"No, no, no, of course not in that class. Anna goes to public school too, y'know." That took me by surprise, but explained why she always seemed to know what we were learning ahead of time.

"Oh. Which one?" I asked, curious. There was only one I knew of, and it was a school a 10 min walk from the town, and overpopulated. I went there once, to pick up a freshman my friend was babysitting, and it was very unpleasant. I never got out of the car, but I could tell it was a rowdy place. One drunk guy even tried to hit on me through the glass window of my car. It was entertaining, to say the least. And funny. One of my greatest stories.

"Um, the only one. Hillview High School." He told me, looking at me skeptically. Okay. So it was the one with the drunk guy. Okay.

"Hey, Christian, time to go." I turned around to look at Anna, with short soccer shorts, and a red soccer jersey with grey stripes running down it. Our school soccer uniforms. I avoided looking at her bare legs, keeping my eyes on her face, still hidden by the baseball cap.

She wouldn't look at me. Why not?

"Okay. Bye, Eva, Karina'll take over for now." Christian nodded shyly at me before exiting the door Anna held for him, Karina walking in after he left. Anna whispered something to her while she walked by and she pouted, turning to complain but getting a door slammed in her face instead.

"Fuck."

"What'd she say?" I asked. I was bored.

"She said... to try nothing with you. And don't talk unless I speak to you directly, kapish?" She glared at me. I nodded fiercely, watching her migrate to the window and look outside.

"Well, she's gone. Leave me alone while I sleep, will you?" She asked, laying her jacket on the floor and laying down on it.

"Mhmm." I replied, leaning back against the pole. Better for me, anyway.
