Tharn held his hand tightly on the cruise ship railing. The coldness of the metal can match the coldness and emptiness inside him. He left the Captain's area for a while to roam around.
He is enjoying his solitude alone when a small voice waken his reverie.

"Hey mister..."

Tharn look at his back and he saw a kid, probably on his 6 years or 7 of age.

"Yes Kid?"

"Are you the ship captain? I can see it in your uniform." He smiled a bit.
"I want to be like you too. Navigating a cruise ship like this with a large number of souls as passengers is really awesome."

Tharn was just looking intently at the child, he's not acting as his age. Oddly.. This kid in front of him is mature in mind.

"What's your name kiddo?"

"My Ommie said, I will not give my name on strangers, Captain." He smile sheepishly. The kid's smile is contagious, making Tharn warm inside.

"I am Captain Tharn Kirigun, I am the captain of MV Nattarine for 3 years now.. You already know my name. I am not a stranger anymore. What is your name kid?" Tharn crouched down to level the child's height.

"Alexander Nathaniel.. I am turning 7 years old." He offers his hand on Tharn, who gladly accepted it while smiling.

"Nice to meet you Captain."

"Nice meeting you Alex." the name of the child, rolled smoothly on his tongue.

They shook hands, and the moment Tharn held and squeeze the kid's palm, he felt his blood rushing through his heart, making it beat erratically. He can feel the unusual fondness each time he look at the child's eyes, which is odd because he doesn't have much time to bond with kids. So this feeling is quite odd.

"Alex! Where have you been? Your Ommie is looking for you! Let's go." a chubby man came and get the kid.

"Oh, I just meet a ship captain Uncle Best, you know I want to be like that when I grow up. Does Ommie finish the photoshoot?"

"Yes.. Let's go.."

Tharn just look at the kid while Alex wave at him. He smiled back warmly.

If he didn't mess up, they might be a happy family now, probably.
Tharn look again at the blue sea.
Thinking about what if's and the possibilities when the ship mate call him on his walkie talkie saying that they will arrive in Jeri Brazil for a short stop over.

Mew and Gulf was there together with Aunt Simoni, tonight will be the celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary. And the couple don't know that a party is prepared in the cruise ship by their closest family friends.

My heart hopes that after the past years of celebrating it with them, his most important person will come and celebrate with them. But each year, he always ended up disheartened.

Tharn is always in the ocean, only his immediate family can call him for emergency, no social medias, no friends. Just him.
His peace and his solitude. He use his free time on writing songs and reading. Though he is always busy.
He fix his crumpled uniform and went back to his post.
