The Broken Rule:

The third power (Chapter 3)

"The second thing I can do is showing you future memories with your soulmate. If you can't think about a person, you can think about your soulmate, your future wife or husband. Then there will be only one path. You can't change the path, because you won't see what decisions you make, you can't see the face of your soulmate. You can only her or his voice, but after you go out of the room, you will forget your soulmate's voice and you will only remember her or his voice when you hear it again.  I will show you memories with your soulmate. If you already met your soulmate, you will see some familiar memories, but if you didn't meet her or him you will see the first time you saw her or him, but you won't see the time. You will see every little memory you have with them until one of you dies. You will see every date and you will see every argument, too. And especially don't get scared when you hear own voice. You will hear your thoughts and the things you said to your soulmate. It is kind off like a film with you being the main character. You will even see the moments where you were thinking of your soulmate and you will hear your thoughts by this, too. The best part is, if your soulmate once visited me, I can show you what they were thinking at this moment. Even if you don't know her or him, a second mirror will light up with her or his thoughts. But sadly you won't remember this memories and thoughts when you walk out of this room. You will see the memories in your dreams again, but like every dream you will forget them when you wake up. You will remember coming to me, listening how my powers work and seeing all paths you have chosen, but you won't remember what you have seen or heard. This prevents you from changing your path and changing who your soulmate is. It also prevents you from changing any memories with your soulmate. Your soulmate is something that the Gods decided for you. It is unchangeable and it is my duty to keep it like this."  

Cygnus listens closely to Paris. "Is there more information?" "I have many powers, Cygnus. The last power that I think is relevant for you is this one: 

I have the power to show you any memory with any person in the whole world. I can show you memories from the past and even memories that will never happen, because you made a decision that led you to this moment." Cygnus body fills with adrenaline and he interrupts Paris with disbelieve: "Wait ANY memory? It doesn't matter how many years it is ago and which memory it was? You will show me what would have happened if I didn't chose this decision? What would have been my future if I didn't make this mistake?" One eye changes to purple while the other changes to yellow. Cygnus's body starts to tremble and he smiles a little bit. "Yes I can show you how your lived turned if you didn't do this mistake or this decision with one specific person. But I wouldn't recommend it. It is-" "WHY!?" His yellow eye turns to orange and he forms his hands to balls. He is about to throw a punch, when Paris takes his hands and looks him deep in the eyes. "Cygnus, I will see what you would like to change. I will see every detail and it is a really personal progress. If you would like to see how this decision affected your life, you are forced to stay by my side until you overcome this feeling of guilt. Also you will never forget what you saw in there and it mostly will eat you up in side. Do you really want to risk a life full of guilt and misery?" "I already live a life full of guilt and misery, so show me this damn path or I will force you to show it to me." Cygnus answers his eyes completely turn orange. They are brighter as ever before and his anger spreads around his whole body like a wild uncontrollable fire. 

"I warned you, Cygnus. Now there is no turning back." She holds his hand tight in her hand and closes her eyes.  Some mirrors start to light up at the side of Love and a red path appears on the floor. Paris's hair starts to float and as she opens her eyes they shine bright red. She shakes her head and points to a mirror. "That is the mirror you want to see. At first you will see what really happened in your past. We will be like ghosts. They won't see or hear us, but we will see and hear everything. It will look like we are in the moment, but we aren't. Remember this, Cygnus." Cygnus is silent and breaths heavily. He is obviously scared of that moment. All his anger vanishes in seconds and his eyes turn crystal blue and heavy purple. "I- I am ready to see it a- again." He tries really hard to keep all his tears in his eyes, but as they enter the mirror one tear runs down his check. 

It is a light castle, in that time Cygnus's family was still known for being the kingdom of Truth and Equality. Everybody was honest and no one got abused. The Queen of Equality always tried to treat everybody good. She knew when someone deserved something bad and when someone deserved good things. Her power was to read minds, to read the true intentions of people and what they wanted. So it was easy for her to treat everybody equally for what they did. In this kingdom you would get the money on how much you worked and not on how know you are. Cygnus's mother always forced Cygnus to stay by her side, so he would learn how to treat everybody equal. He was really close to his mother and he always brought her presents like food, flowers or paintings he had found or made himself. At that time Cygnus was only eleven years old. He was still a child and his eyes always shined yellow. But at that day it all changed...
