"Where are you two going?" Garth asked, crossing his arms as Melody and Blair gathered up a weapons bag.
Melody turned to look at Garth with her best smile. "We've got to go keep an eye on Mr. Baxter's illegitimate son," she told him. "Sam and Dean have no clue that this thing could be after someone else. I need you to stay here with Mr. Baxter, and keep an open ear for any other secrets surfacing, okay?" She placed a had on his arm, batting her lashes up at him. It really was a superpower.
Garth folded like a cheap suit. "You got it," he breathed, looking as though he'd been touched by an angel. "Are you going to tell Sam and Dean?"
Melody shouldered a jacket on, shaking her head. "Not yet. They need to stay right where they are," she told Garth. "If we tell them we're going to do this, they're going to leave Marie alone and vulnerable. This thing might not even be at the brewery. Give us twenty minutes, and call them to let them know we're on our way.
They walked out of the room leaving Garth alone. Melody managed to snag his keys for a ride, and they were on their way.
Melody bit the inside of her cheek as they pulled in front of the building. She was sure that they could handle themselves, but it'd been a long time since they'd done anything like this on their own. Melody grabbed a couple of beers from the backseat, and the pair worked on chugging some down—enough to make them able to see the damn thing. They just needed to get this guy out of there, and meet back with Sam and Dean.
Melody walked in first, wielding a shotgun filled with salt. Even if this thing wasn't a regular spirit, salt would still slow it down...they hoped.
They rounded the corner, and sure enough, the Shojo was there, staring right at Randy's son. Shit. So it was there, and they had no way to kill it. Melody sure as hell hoped the salt would at least slow it down.
Melody rushed over to the man, urging him out. Of course, he looked at her how she'd look at any drunk person she'd never met trying to drag her out of a building. "Look I've got no time to explain, we've got to go."
"What the hell are you talking about?" He pulled his arm out of her grasp, and the Shojo appeared in her face. She raised the gun, but before she could shoot, she was thrown across the room. "B, text Dean!" Blair pulled her phone out to text, but suffered the same fate as Melody. "Damn it," she groaned, trying to get to her feet. Being drunk and having your head slammed against the wall really takes a toll on you.
Paying no attention to the girls, the Shojo was standing right next to Lee, who was trying to comprehend what the hell was happening. "Run!" Blair yelled at the kid. He took off for a door, but it slammed shut.
Melody was able to get a clear shot of salt on the spirit, despite her head spinning. Unfortunately, all it seemed to do was piss it off. Blair got to her feet and dashed for Lee in an attempt to get him to a safe place, but before she had a chance to get to him, she was thrown against a wall. She wasn't moving at all. "Blair!" Melody yelled, dropping the gun on the ground. She rushed to her friends side, checking her pulse. Thankfully, she was still alive and breathing, but she'd be in a world of pain tomorrow. Sam dashed around the corner, seeing Blair laying there, and froze. "She's fine, just kill this damn thing!"
Dean was carrying the death weapon. Clearly he hadn't drank enough to see the thing, because he was swinging wildly. Melody watched as the spirit hit him in the gut, causing him to fall over and drop the sword behind him a ways. Sam charged forward, but he was thrown into cans before he even had a chance to get to his brother.
Stumbling up before he could be attacked again, he started towards the weapon, but it slid across the floor to him on its own. The action sent chills down both their spines, but there was no time to give it much thought.
