Chapter Two| An Owl' s Owner
------------------Do you know the feeling of dread, knowing that you're somewhere unknown? Somewhere that could be dangerous, somewhere that you don't even know, but could kill you as easily because of the lack of knowledge of where you are?
Luz was feeling that dread. She had met this, odd old woman who turned the owl on the tall cane and it somehow became wood. The owl who stole Luz's book, sat down on a staff, was turned around and shifted into a palisman by a hand. Luz was confused, and somewhat amazed.
But she had to keep in focus. A magic trick was not possible, it was just a trick of illusion, everyone knew that.
What is magic, really? Is it the dust that just sparkles, or just amazing and unrealistic situations that happen. Such as a rabbit disappearing into a hat, but also jumping out of it without it being known it was in there.
She peeked in a little more, seeing an old lady with slicked back grey hair and a handkerchief around her head. The old woman searched the bag that the owl had retrieved for her. She threw out some stuff, even a shiny gold trophy.
Before the old lady pulled out silly glasses, and put them on. A smirk painted on her face as she looked around with the glasses. "Now this, this will make me rich." The old lady raised her arms in a proud gesture. Before she went back digging into the bag, and soon, she pulled out Luz's book.
"Hm.. This will at least make some nice kindling." She said, before holding it above the candle on her table. Luz suddenly ran over and yanked the book out of the old lady's hands as she jumped over her table and lifted her legs as to not get burnt nor knock anything over as she then put an arm over her face as she landed, rolling on the ground then getting up and turning around to see the old woman surprised to see the girl in her tent.
Luz started running back into the tent as the door shut closed and folded into a suit case. She then ran out and stopped at a cliff as she observed her surroundings. A medieval town was below her as creatures of different kinds flew over it. There was actually a griffon who breathed spiders.
Who knew her former self was right?
Luz allowed herself to think that, before shaking that thought out of her head. This wasn't home, this was not earth. She looked around, before seeing a pixie come up to her. "Oh hello there, what are you supposed to do? Give me a blessing and spread sparkles everywhere?" Luz asked the pixie, before it opened its mouth. "GIVE ME YOUR SKIN!!" It screamed. When it screamed, Luz screamed and karate chopped the pixie, the pixie fell down as Luz ran.
She ran back into the tent and tried to run past the old lady. But the old lady caught Luz by the hem of her shirt. "Don't eat me!" Luz screamed fearfully as she continued to try running, kicking her legs in the air.
"Eat you? Why would I eat a potential customer?" The lady asked as Luz got confused. "Huh?" Luz said, as she put Luz down. "Would you like to buy anything? A human foot with holes in it? Some human candy? Or a box with black that reflects your sadness?" She asked excitedly as she showed Luz crocs, stuff that mostly was candy, and a portable TV, as Luz sighed, chuckling at how the lady called some things.
"That's not all it can do." Luz said, before grabbing the batteries from 'human candy' and putting it in the tv. The TV suddenly turned on, showing an old 80's dance video. It caught the attention of the people at other market stalls. They started to gather at the front of the old lady's tent.
Interesting how a single sound could make people gather. It's interesting how a noise can attract someone. Such as music attracts people.
Different genres of music can somehow charm people. It's fascinating honestly. How can noise do that so easily? It's unknown.
