Chapter 1

"The hell is this!!!??? Tamaki!!?" Uzui gasped in horror.

"What do you mean!!??" Kaisa yelled, veins popped from her temple.

"This!!!!" Uzui pointed at the burnt, smoking pot on the stove, "Did a bomb roll into the pot or something!!?"

Kaisa's cheeks heated up, "Wh-What!! This is breakfast!!"

"Breakfast!!?" Uzui couldn't believe his ears, nausea bubbled in his stomach as he stared at the unidentifiable stuff, "Breakfast!!? Seriously!!? You're trying to poison us aren't you!!? Even I cook better than you!!"

"Oh really!! Then you should have woken up to cook for us when I called you!!" Kaisa frowned, "You're just lazy!!"

"Ha!!? Lazy!!? We're not you!! Who on earth wakes up at four after staying up all night slaying demons!!? The sun hadn't even risen!! The wisteria house could have been burnt into ashes if it wasn't for us stopping your horrendous cooking!!" Uzui couldn't understand Kaisa's logic, there must be something wrong with her mind.

"We should give it a try! It can't be that bad!" Kyojuro suggested, "We can't judge a book by its cover!" Though the food was indeed unappealing, he felt bad if they wasted Kaisa's efforts. Without furrowing his brows, he swallowed a spoon of the porridge like substance.

"Ha! Hear that? It's not bad!" Kaisa poked Uzui's arm with a spoon, "Come on! Try!"

"You've got to be kidding me!" Uzui flicked the spoon away, "You eat first! If you-"

Dong.

The two turned to see Kyojuro unconscious on the floor.

"Rengoku-san is doing fine now, he may have suffered from food poisoning," Kanae sat on her stool and asked, "What did you guys eat during your mission? Did you eat any unnamed mushrooms or fruits on the way?"

Uzui bursted into hysterical laughter and wiped tears from the corner of his eyes, while Kaisa puffed up her cheeks and refused to look at her friends.

Kanae tilted her head with a confused smile, waiting patiently for their answer.

"Food poisoning! Tamaki!" Uzui wheezed, leaning onto the wall for support, "Your cooking is food poisoning!"

"Just shut up already!!" Kaisa kicked the guffawing male next to her, "What's so funny about it!!? Huh!!?"

Uzui's laughing showed no signs of ceasing, "What's so funny? Come on! This is the most hilarious joke I've heard in a while!!"

"I give you one chance to rephrase that," Kaisa cracked her knuckles.

"Ara ara," Kanae quickly stood between the duo, "No fighting in the butterfly mansion. Bedsides, it's not good to fight each other-"

"Nee-san! You don't have to be so kind to them! They won't listen anyways! Look, I don't care if you two want to fight or not! Just take whatever arguments you have outside!" Shinobu slammed the doors open, marching in with someone behind her, "Now please step aside! You're blocking the way! We have patients to treat!"

Glancing backwards, Kaisa froze. Her head spun, she was eaten up by the swirling spiral in her head.

It is Kairi.

They haven't talked for years.

Uzui quirked an eyebrow, the demeanour around Kaisa changed drastically, as if grey clouds had shunned the blinding sun. A storm was raging across her heart, her pulse was rocky like raindrops pouring onto the choppy sea. Her breaths were hitched, as if something was stuck in her trachea. Though Uzui couldn't see Kaisa's expression through her kitsune mask, he could tell her shoulders were unusually stiff.
