When I was six, I decided that I wanted to be a private investigator, I wanted to do what the police couldn't, or wouldn't. Today was my first day, I was officially a private investigator. I am ready to open the old wooden doors and welcome my first customer... If I have any. I would be shocked if I have any customers out in the waiting area, after all its my first day of opening and no one would have heard of me, especially I haven't proven that I'm good, I'll be lucky if anyone shows up. I reach for the cold bronze door handle. I take a deep breath and put on a bright smile. Opening the door, I feel my heart stop and my soul leave my body.
What. The. Hell.
After opening the door all the seats are filled up, people are starting to back out of the building. Why are there so many people! This is my first day! What in the fresh hell happened!
"Are you open Ma'am?" I asked a blond woman with a European accent.
Still dumbfounded I clap my hand on my face to snap myself out of the trance. "Yes, I am open, please come inside" I gesture to the inside of my office. She walks in and I follow her closing the door. "Please take a seat" The woman sits down on the wooden seat in front of my desk. I walk around to the back of my desk and sit in the padded wheelie chair. "So, if you don't mind me asking, what is with all the people. Not that I'm complaining it's just m first day and I'm a bit confused why there are so many people''
"Haven't you heard?"
"Apparently not because I have no idea what is going on"
"Oh, um right, well the cops are refusing to handle the small investigations because all there are a lot of big people getting things stolen from them, they are ignoring us" The woman started to fidget with her hair. "We've been having murders and assaults; the cops don't care about us"
I lean back in my chair and look to the roof with a smirk. "So, they started have they?"
