The breeze was cold, the night sky was choked by the clouds, the silence was deafening. "I never stood a chance, did I?" Rick asked looking up at the lifeless sky.
"They funny thing is, you did once" James responded, staring at Rick with sombre eyes. Rick's heart felt as if he stopped beating, his throat felt a phantom hand choking him, little knives pincered his skin. Thinking back on what he had done, he regretted it all, if he could he would take it back. Looking away from the sky back to James the wind brushed through James's scruffy black hair. The moonlight that had managed to escape the clouds surrounded James as if there was a spotlight made for him, his pale skin almost glowing. James is beautiful, Rick would thing to himself.
"I have no right to ask but please give me another chance" Rick moved closer to James and grabbed his hand gently. "I'll do better" James didn't want this, he didn't want to break Rick's heart but after what he did to him, it wasn't fair on James, if he pretended the past never happened. James placed his hand on top of Rick and brought it up to his chest.
"Rick, I loved, no I love you, more than anything" James could feel tears threatening to push past, he did his best to hold them back. "But you broke my trust, you took what I gave you and destroyed it" Memories caught up to James, the tears came rushing out like a waterfall. "I don't think I will be able to be with you knowing what you did"
The look on Rick's face broke Jame's heart. Rick's normal bright smile was the darkest of frowns, his bright green eyes were dull, void of life. "Please don't" Rick's voice choked.
"I'm sorry" James said as he brought Rick's hand up to his mouth, he planted a gentle kiss on the top of Rick's hand. "Goodbye Ricky" With a pained smile, James let go of Rick's hand and began to walk away.
Rick grabbed James's arm as he turned away stopping him from going any further. "Please don't go" Rick begged as salty tears dripped down his face. "If you truly love me, you'll let me go" With that one sentence Rick knew what he had to do, it didn't make it any easier, it broke him more than he thought he could be broken, he let James's arm go. James turned away and continued to walk away, using all his will power to turn back.
