Everything was silent; the cries of her mother, the screaming. It all just went silent. The sobbing of her younger brother seemed to have disappeared as blood flowed across the wooden floor like a river. She looked up to see her father holding a bloodied woodsmen's axe, smiling like he was the devil himself.

"Mama", she said weakly.

Her father grabbed her by her long black hair, dragging her over to her mother's headless body.

"This is what you'll become one day if you disobey your superiors!", Her father yelled, pulling on her hair.

She wanted to scream. She wanted to yell and kick at her father. Yet she couldn't move. She was powerless. She looked over at her brother and that's when all the sound came back. She could hear the cries of her brother, the aggressive yells of her father and the low humming of the space heater.

"Go be useful and clean up this mess", her father demanded, throwing her onto her mothers corpse and tossing the axe down next to her. She jumped at the sound of the axe making contact with the ground.

"Boy! Stop your wining and come with me!", Her father yelled, storming towards her brother.

The young boy couldn't help but continue crying. It wasn't his fault. He was only three.
"Stop crying you useless child!", Her father yelled raising his hand, slapping her defenceless brother across the cheek. Her younger brothers loud wailing died down into quite sobs. Her father grabbed her younger brother by the collar of his shirt and started dragging him to the front door. Her so called father opened the door and threw her younger brother out onto the snow.

"Get up and head to the shed boy!", He commanded.

The small, browned haired boy was struggling to get up. Her father got sick of her brothers fumbling about and stormed out onto the snow raising his hand to slap the boy once again, but before he could lay his hand down on the boy, she had grabbed the axe and ran towards her father swinging at his back. He started to fall to the ground whilst turning to look at his daughter in utter surprise. The two just stood there in silence looking at the blood stained snow.
