The Paladin Called Death, the Sniper, and The Knight

chapter 3: The demon hunters

    The hero's had been traveling through the woods for about three days, nothing but small demons and a few corpses were really in the woods that they had seen. "Hold up, I see six. All armed to the teeth." Colton says while adjusting his scope. "I can see them too all outlined in the mist, there searching for something, or someone." Ray says as he wittles away at a stick with his claws. "All I can see is fog how come you guys get all the cool shit." Natalie says overdramatically. "My bad we will just go back and ask the wizard to give you super sight, oh wait I blew up him and that entire town with one fowl swoop." Ray says with a smile. "We need to move there coming this way." "Maybe we can talk to them." Natalie says. Right as the three stand up an axe gets buried right next to Ray in a tree. "And what do we have here." Says one of the men. "Let me see your hands." Says one of the smaller guys of the group.

    "Listen now we don't want any trouble were just looking for the nearest town." Ray says stepping forward. "How about you just sit the fuck down before I put you down guy." Says another man. "Listen we don't have anything to give sir." "Well you look like you've got a whole lot of gear for someone with no money." The men are now surrounding the heroes. "Yeah you might have just taken it, you might have just summoned it from Satan himself you demons!" One of the men shouts out of nowhere. "What the hell are you talking about?" Ray asks in a calm tone. "Show me that hand of yours." Says a rigid voice from behind a tree. Ray and Colton both didn't notice this man before, he was a seventh. "This doesn't concern you Maxwell! Last time I saw you I said if I ever caught a glance at your ugly mug again I was gonna shoot you myself." The man just stood there. he was missing his leg and had a set of glasses on but they weren't enough to hide the giant scar running down from his hairline.

   The man takes his robotic leg and kicks the tree he was just leaning up against only to bring it down in one fowl swoop scattering the other hunters. "keep him in your sights, dont let any of them go!" says the leader. "fuck this guy, Natalie, Colton get down now!" Ray takes a few chops out of the air literally cutting the fog and three of the six hunters in half. "I have to take out their cover or theyll get a shot on us" Ray takes another flurry of swings taking out the surrounding trees. Natalie takes a leap over one of the hunters and puts her blade through his chest. "alright if i hit this spot here and slice down ill kill you in seconds, but i think ill let you suffer you heartless bastard." Natalie kicks him off the blade of her sword to lie in the mud. one of the other two hunters takes a shot on the mysterious Maxwell only to have his bolt get struck midflight by one of coltons shots. "Natalie, let me power up your sword." Ray reaches for the sword, stripping the gauntlet off his arm. "Alright babe" Natty shouts encouragingly. Ray grabs the blade and hits it, the blade begins to vibrate.

    The blade starts shifting bits and pieces growing larger but staying just as razor sharp and light as the original. "Start hacking at the trees dont let the leader and his lacky escape" Ray shouts as Natty rushes into the surrounding area and lops down a few trees. The smoke clears from the splintering woods and its dead silent. "well this is awkward, i caught these two when you started hacking and slashing." Maxwell says holding the leader and the other hunter. "Ive been tracking you three since i saw you get attacked not just a few days ago. not many people get bit and stay human or even survive you know." Ray takes a heroic pose on a fresh stump. "Well not many people are as awesome as me you know." Max throws the two on the ground in front of Ray's scythe. "now the true test, do you consume these poor demon hunters in a bloody rage or spare them?" Max stands off to the side his glasses now on his shirt to reveal his grey eyes. "Well seeing as how i am here with a choice, id say flip a coin, you do have those in this world dont you?" "Of course we do, but what will that accomplish?" Max seems confused by this gesture. "Heads or tails? Goddammit this place sucks with a sense of humor." Ray takes the coin and explains the sytem to Max. "Got it so heads you behead them and tails you set them free." Ray goes to flip the coin, puts it in his demonic hand and flicks his thumb only to accidentally slice the thin piece of metal in two. "shit! i forgot to put my gauntlet back on son of a.... alright no need to get pissed over this. if i set them free we will definitely get chased by more thugs so safer route is dispose of them. 

    "very good choice my friend, and thank you for desroying my money to get food this month. can i travel with you three?" Max extends his hand for a proposal. "gosh i dont see why not, just one condition." Max nods his head "Whats the condition?" Ray starts to smirk. "You do have a weapon dont you? because honestly you just walked out to confront those guys with empty hands. you are gonna need a weapon to travel with us." Max laughs as he reaches down and pulls a hammer concealed by his steampunk looking leg. The hammer shifts and locks into a giant warhammer and his leg reverts back to its original form as if the hammer never left its place. "Very well i cant wait to actually see you in action Max."
