Natalie and Colton fell right asleep but Ray couldn't sleep that entire night he was still full of energy ready for what might come the next day.
There was a gathering of people in the town square being held back from something by the guards. "We should go down there maybe check it out?" Colton was lingering by the window in the room. "Well I think we need to cause it came from home." Ray said with wide eyes. "Home?! How can you tell?" Says Natalie running to the window. "Well I saw the portal open up considering I was awake all night." They all get outside to meet the commotion. "Move for the three outsiders, come now make a path!" One of the guards is shouting to the crowd. The trio manage to get to the center to find Balbodar waiting.
"Glad you could join us, I didn't think you were gonna come out of that room, no matter you're here now and that's all that matters. I have your gear as I promised and to my surprise it was delivered rather oddly last night." He turns to Ray. "Yes was it a Rifle I saw? Maybe even a crate full of stuff I couldn't see much it was a flash." "Right you are about the rifle not sure where it came from though I studied your dimension and this isn't from your world at all." The hero's look up at the old man in shock. "Not from our world? But it's a Rifle?" Colton says "yes would you care to look at it?" Balbodar grabs it from under the cloth and brings it out for him to see.
"Whoa I've never seen this before, but I think I can figure this out" Colton says as he grabs the rifle and mess of wires and tubes coming out of it. "What was in the crate?" Ray asks with a bout of curiosity. He opens it up to find a black cloak, a largely mechanical mask, and a set of gauntlets. "So who gets what?" Colton says. "I'll divvy it up to you based on what I've prepared already which wasn't much I'm sorry, our town is neutral but we have some old crash brigade forges but only enough materials to grant one of you armor so who gets it is based on you."
"Natalie gets the armor hands down, I'll take the cloak and the right gauntlet only, take the metal from the other it seems really light maybe you can melt it down." Balbodar takes hold of the gauntlet and pulls out what looks like a miniature chemistry kit. "Well I'll be damned. It's a super rare metal it's only been seen once before in this whole world and it was only enough to craft a ring, with the size of this gauntlet I could make a sword lighter and sharper than anything else in the lands and this metal is super dense so it could probably cut through standard steel I'll get right on that actually!"
"Wait you're only taking one gauntlet?" Natalie says with some concern. "Why not both all you have is that cloak you don't have any armor but your right arm!" "And I don't even need that, I'm using it to conceal this." Ray pulls out his arm that he's had wrapped up pretty much all morning to reveal a shocking scene. The finger tips were solid black and looked sharpened to a point, the top of the hand up through the rest of the arm looked like scales with a few giant cracks glowing purple. "Holy shit did that happen over night?!" Colton says with a shock. "Yeah and the tips of my fingers are very sharp trust me I ripped a big gash in my leg last night cause I had an itch, don't worry because, and get this It closed up the instant it opened. I honestly wanted to keep this from you guys cause it's a bigger shock to me more than anything else but I'm a bit of a monster now sorry guys." Ray takes a seat on the ground. "Hey now dear you're still the same person I met back home so I'm sticking with you, razor demon hand or not" says Natalie with a smile on her face. "And with that you won't even need a weapon." Says Colton with a reassuring grin. "Well I'm giving you all something anyways plus with that cloak this weapon I have for you will seem fitting." Balbodar returns with a covered cart.
"Is that a scythe?" Ray asks "yes well I pulled it from my personal collection of artifacts and relics from the wars and it is cursed." Balbodar hoists it from the wagon with great effort. "You see the curse is that it's terribly heavy for the bearer, it was used by the original king of this whole world before the wars got out of control. He would take this scythe and chop trees down in one fowl swoop, but there were people who thought the king was in control of too much thus putting a curse on his fabled scythe making it almost unweildable as a weapon. The reason I say almost is because of that arm, now take hold of this ancient death bringer and let's see if my theory is true." Ray puts his hand around the inscribed handle feeling the ridges and feeling how comfortable it was. He picks it up with ease as if the old man wasn't just struggling to stand holding it. "I thought you said it was cursed?" Ray tosses it up and down as if it were nothing.
