part 2 of the last story

-the baby was never named by the way, when writing my mind automatically registered "the baby" as its actual name and forgot to give it one

———————————————

Pregnancy was not easy at all.

Kim Dokja had unknowingly been pregnant for around two to three months and complained about back pains and other issues.

Ohoho, if only he could go back and give his past self a serious lecture. It got way worse. From weird midnight cravings to even more vomiting to other things.

Yoo Joonghyuk being by his side helped very much though, without him Kim Dokja probably would have been even more miserable. Yoo Joonghyuk's princely title allowed Kim Dokja access to the royal kitchen, servants and a comfy bed to lie in all day.

Yoo Joonghyuk worked so quickly Kim Dokja was already moved into the castle before he could even have a chance to disagree. He had been officially announced as Yoo Joonghyuk's fiancée after they reunited at the banquet; pampered and doted on ever since.

Some may have said it was too fast, but Kim Dokja didn't mind at all. It was nice to have someone be so affectionate to him all the time.

Yoo Joonghyuk was with him whenever he had the chance between his duties as a prince. Kim Dokja himself was put on leave for the rest of the year, leaving Han Sooyoung in charge of the knights. How terrifying.

In exchange for mountains of paperwork, Kim Dokja got a loving fiancée and the ability to slack off 24/7. He was totally living the good life for nearly twenty four hours.

It was like the baby had sensed that its two fathers had reunited and decided that it was time to kick the "make Kim Dokja and everyone else around him suffer" switch onto its max setting. Life was a whirlwind from then on, only getting worse as time went by.

Kim Dokja had servants tending to him often, and since servants were fully functional human beings instead of hollow shells they had to gossip, and gossip they did. What else were they supposed to do with all this juicy gossip? A male being pregnant was rare. Said male being engaged to the crown prince was even rarer.

It took an outstanding three days for almost everyone in the capital to learn that Kim Dokja, the imperial prince Yoo Joonghyuk's fiancée, was pregnant. A week later the entire empire knew.

It was big news. The prince has finally chosen a partner! And it's a boy! All people the old tale on the ancient empire and how a goddess helped them in their time of need, just because of a male pregnancy. Many kings in the past had also had male partners, trying to bring prosperity to the empire—many of their children didn't live up to expectations, becoming tyrants or just poor rulers in general. So bad in fact, human sacrifice was a trend during some particularly bad eras.

Of course many turned out to be great people, but in the end a myth was a myth. Perhaps a goddess did give the royal family the ability to give birth, or maybe it was something else going on behind the scenes. That's what some chose to think. There were plenty of rebels living amongst the people, the 'pregnancy' was a good way to chip at the imperial family's power.

This was another issue Kim Dokja faced. Kidnapping and assassination attempts happened on a weekly basis. Traitors spreading rumors around the palace and to the common folk had to be rooted out and punished. This kind of event happened every once in a while before, but it happened so frequently it became a daily spectacle for the people to watch. Though it got boring after a while.

It was exhausting for everyone involved.

Months passed on agonizingly until it was the baby's due date. They had made it. After too many near death experiences to count and plenty of close calls Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk welcomed a healthy baby boy to the world.

Countless doctors were stationed in the room during the delivery supporting him though the whole thing and it wasn't as painful as he had expected it still hurt. Men weren't born with the ability to give birth so of course Kim Dokja had it rough.

Over the pregnancy Kim Dokja learned how the whole male pregnancy thing worked. Basically, he grew a womb. Kim Dokja was in disbelief when he first learned of Yoo Joonghyuk's magical sperm, blessed with the power of a god. (Said power could have easily been blocked if they used protection though)

The womb grew along with the baby so the earlier stages hadn't been as painful. It was when his internal organs were rearranged in order to make room that it really started to hurt.

There were ways to relieve pain, but not all of it. This combined with pregnant Kim Dokja's mood swings created a whole new level of bitchiness and sass—rivaling, no, overpowering some of the most dramatic people he knew. Luckily it was all over now. No one would have to suffer anymore.

Kim Dokja naively thought, before he got word of yet another assassin trying to kill him and Yoo Joonghyuk's baby.

Kim Dokja grew to be a gentle father, strict when he needed to be while Yoo Joonghyuk not-so-surprisingly turned out to be the overprotective father that would spoil his kids rotten.

Kim Dokja should have expected it when Yoo Joonghyuk went ahead and bought an entire dress boutique for his sister Yoo Mia when she asked.

Kim Dokja never did end up giving birth again, the whole experience wasn't something either of them wanted to go through again. They adopted instead.

Yoosung and Gilyoung were precious. They fought and argued at times but was never anything serious, they'll grow out of it eventually.

Biyoo came later but easily managed to fit in as well.

Yoo Joonghyuk didn't seem to mind that they weren't even his own blood and treated them just the same.

The public didn't seem to mind much either, there was a lot of debate on if they and the right to inherit the throne but their story was heard by many and became a small children's tale that would circulate for centuries.

The family lived happily. The kids got along splendidly and Yoo Joonghyuk would soon ascend his throne.

In the meantime Kim Dokja returned to his post as the captain of the imperial knights. Sitting down in his chair, he began the day's paperwork.
