"I will kill that monster, I promise." Maya gasped, as she observed her brother being bandaged by Professor Harvey. Lark, regardless of the pain, found it quite comical and let out a deep throaty guffaw through his lips, "Hey! That's not funny!"

"It is though," Lark laughed, allowing a grimace to show on his face as the professor finished tightening the bandage around his left arm, "You have a hard time managing your powers, you won't be able to. Besides, I'd no way let my sister end up in any sort of trouble because I was dumb enough to wander into the forest."

"Especially irresponsible." Mr. Silva added from his seat as Professor Harvey approached him to do the same as he had done with Lark, "And Maya, you're not going to do anything you're thinking about doing. The students are committed to staying within the barrier to avoid any further hazards..." Silva gave Lark a sharp look, and the latter rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time, "unlike someone."

"Yeah Lark, that was pretty idiotic."

"O, shut up Maya."

"By the way, Dowling phoned Mum and Dad and they went totally berserk. They said they'll be coming," Lark blinked his eyes in wonder at the fact that Mum was due to arrive, considering she'd cut off her association with the fairy world a long time ago, "Yeah, I was surprised too. But this is because you're in life threatening condition and..." she sighed weakly, withholding tears at the prospect of not being able to have her brother alongside her someday.

Lark grasped her hand tenderly, her dainty, slender hand coated by his scarred, bigger one. Neither of them added any further because sometimes gestures are worth a thousand words.
