Now I remember it, just like it was yesterday.
Drop. Drop. Drop. It was raining outside, I was tempted to look out the window but thought it better to just go outside. Some people aren't fond of rain, but I quite like it. Quietly as not to wake anyone else, I grabbed my phone and turned the flashlight on. I tapped my toes against the stairs to be as stealthy as possible. I am not a morning person, but the night I can definitely relate to. I stepped outside the door and peeked through the dark. Shining my flashlight to where I stepped I slowly made it to the edge of the porch. Following down the porch stairs, all that could be heard were the night animals and small subtle creaks. Tap. Tap. Tap. The water slowly falling off the porch awning. Of course I looked up. Then I remembered rain hurts in eyes. I stepped back under the awning and tried again. This time I saw the beautiful sky. It wasn't completely clear but you could still see the stars and the large moon. Well not large from Earth but if it was up close it would be large. It was a full moon tonight. It's beautiful, if only you could see. At this moment it felt like everything went silent. The stars twinkled and shined as if they were dancing to the song the moon was playing. It was magical, of course not for real because that doesn't exist. But for a moment maybe. Just maybe I saw something. No. Its nothing. I snapped out of it and went back inside. It was late, I was tired, and my bed was only upstairs. I headed up the stairs. I forgot to be quiet though and woke up my sister. "What are you doing up," She asked. "I could ask you the same," I told her. "I can't sleep," She responded. "I went to get some water," I said heading back to my room. She continued to go downstairs to get tissues. I closed the door behind me. What a close call. I sit down on my bed and take off my slippers. There was a push under my shoulder. "Hey there, buddy," I said looking at my tired companion. He cuddled in my arm. "Aren't you a tired little puppy," I asked smiling. I love moments like this. Serenity, Silence, and Sweetness. It makes me think of things. Friends. Family. School. Life.
"Well, we better get to bed, huh," I said looking at my dog. We got cuddled up on the bed and went to sleep.
Well, he went to sleep, my mind was still running. What should I dream about? I love dreams, even though you forget most of them when you wake up. I know. I know. I should be thinking about sleeping. I know I said I was tired, but it's a dream. You just don't understand.
..........
Fine, I'll go to sleep. I guess it is pretty late. Goodnight, sweet dreams!
You're not going to say it back? Okay I see how it is. Well night anyways.
I started to drift off into sleep. And just so you know, I do not snore and I do not drool.
......okay, maybe I drool a little. Just a little though. Oh come on, don't lie. I'm sure you drool or snore. Yeah, whatever.
As I went further into sleep, that's when it all started.
I woke up the next morning in an unfamiliar place. It was not my room. No dog. No slippers. No walls!? I was outside?
It's a dream. A dream. Nothing more. Right? I pinched my cheeks. Don't do that, It hurts. I looked around for something, anything familiar. Where was I? "A place" I said out loud. Well duh. I should have paid more attention in geography class. I looked around again. I was in a forest, it wasn't my backyard. I don't think. I don't sleepwalk, right? Where am I? Yeah, I know, a place. I'm in a place. I know that much. Actually that's really all I know. I don't know how I got here.
Where? It all started, but where? I'm in a forest. It started in a large forest with tall trees and falling leaves.
