"Ahhhh," Kathlyne screamed. "Kathlyne," I yelled rushing over to her. Oh. She had just accidentally slipped in some mud. "Dramatic much," I asked sarcastically. She laughed and said, "I thought the ground was going to swallow me up?" We both laughed and I helped her back up.
When we started walking again, I noticed something and stopped Kathlyne. "What," She asked. "Shhhh," I told her with my finger over my mouth, "Look." I pointed over to two bunnies in the grass a little bit away from us. We watched them for a while until they ran away. The bunnies seemed so calm, it kind of gave us the same effect just watching them. "Let's continue," Kathlyne said to me. We eventually reached the village. It was full of little huts made of wood and rock. Walking into the village, we got some strange looks. You know, the kind of looks if you coughed around someone a few too many times. Yeah, that kind of look.
Hey!
Don't you think of walking away, I swear, I didn't cough okay?
I don't know why we were the ones getting strange looks though. The clothing and outfits of the village people were quite questioning themselves. Looks like something out of a medieval video game, you know the ones where you go and hunt dragons and go on other short quests. Yeah, fun, but I don't know about in real life. At one point we came across this woman who looked to be in her 50's, couldn't really say though. She wore a long skirt made of animal skin and a ragged shirt made of old cloth, it seemed. She approached us, said something we didn't understand, and waved her hand to her house. Me and Kathlyne looked at each other in concern and question.
Should we go?
It seems like we were trying to say that with our facial expressions. I'm not quite sure how well it worked though because as we were trying to get our points across by just staring, the woman was ushering us into her house. Well, I guess that answers that question. When we were inside, it wasn't the warmest, but it felt cozy. I looked around, not moving from the doorway, and saw what looked to be a small fireplace, a small table, a rug made from animal skin, and a little copper pot over the fire. It really was like the video game! She went and got a copper bowl from the table and put some of whatever was in the pot into the bowl. She sat down two bowls at the table. Oh, and I guess I should mention there was a man, who looked around the same age as the woman, sitting at the other side of the table. If I had to take a guess, that's her husband. He had long dark brown hair and wore almost the same clothes as the woman. Again, the old lady tried showing us to sit. I grabbed Kathlyne by the arm and whispered, "Let's just sit down so we're not rude." She agreed with me and we both sat down at the table. The lady then got some for her husband and herself and sat down. When she spoke, a lot of it wasn't anything we had heard before or understood. Sometimes as she would speak though, she would make hand movements which reminded me of before with the lady who gave me berries. During talking, the old lady pointed at the bowls. From what I could get, it seemed like she was asking us why weren't eating.
No, it's not because it looks bad or anything; it looks pretty good, seems like it's vegetable soup. I'm just still confused as to why we are here, plus I wasn't too hungry. Still, I ate a little of the soup and it was delicious. I ate a little bit more of it and I think Kathlyne saw that I was eating it so it must have been okay. She took a bite and started eating hers too. When we finished eating, she ushered us outside the back door with our leftovers. When we arrived outside, we gazed upon horses, cows, and some other farm animals. She took our bowls and fed the animals with the leftovers. She went over to a little field and there were some trees and bushes full of vegetables and fruits. She grabbed a woven basket and started picking from the trees and bushes. She grabbed a green apple and a red apple from the tree and some carrots from the field. She came over to us and offered us them. "We shouldn't take them for free," I said, "Right?" "Yeah," Kathlyne agreed. Then I thought of something. I grabbed my bag that had the berries in it and gave the old lady some in return. She smiled at us and then gave us the carrots and apples. Then there was some noise coming from the bushes. We all looked out to the direction.
We waited as the rustle continued.
.........
It was silent for just a moment....
Then they popped out!
Me and Kathlyne screamed as did the lady as she went to get her husband. We almost dared not to see what it was that just attacked us. "Slowly...", I thought, "I'll slowly open my eyes."
