"Thankyou ever so much! I cannot wait to present this to the Cabinet. Youmust be famished!" exclaimed President Lincoln. Cora looked up abit sheepishly.

"DarestI say it, but yes, Mister President, I am."

"Whatabout you, Levi?"

"Iam a mite hungry, but I figure we should be skedaddling and gettingback to my brothers."

"Afterall you have helped with today, I cannot bare the sight of you twoleaving me without a bite to eat. Come let us all go to the housewhere I am sure Miss Cornelia has some mighty fine oyster stewwaiting for us!" Almost as if on cue, Cora's stomach growled.President Lincoln chuckled again. "It appears someone is hungry."Cora blushed.



"Thankyou for supper, Mister Lincoln, but really we must now be going,"Levi said as he wiped up the last bit of stew from his upper lip.

"Maybehave some apple pie for the trip home?" offered Cornelia Mitchell,President Lincoln's cook volunteered. "I made it fresh thismorning!" She smiled. Cora smiled.

"Icannot say no to that!" Cora replied.

"Youare going to bust your corset!" chuffed Missus Lincoln.

"Thatwould not be the first time," Cora laughed. With that Corneliawrapped some of her delicious pie in some cloth and handed it to Coraand Levi.

"Thankyou very kindly!" Cora said smiling. "I doubt this will make itall the way home to Georgia." Levi laughed.

"Thenyou'll just have to restock at my place first!"

"Ona different topic, Mister Lincoln and I were just about to head onour evening carriage ride since I did not get to this afternoon.Could we offer you two a ride to the station?" Missus Lincoln askedkindly. President Lincoln nodded and smiled at the two young adults.

"Certainly;thank you so much," Levi said. "I never would have dreamed thatall this would happen to just a little lad like me."

 "Nordid I," Cora chimed in.
