Morning came sooner than Cora wanted. The sun danced in the window and into Cora's drowsy eyes. She turned over in the bed Levi let her use while she stayed with him and his brothers. The sounds of pans and pots clanging caused Cora to pull the pillow over her head. The sun danced into her eyes again; all the sights and sounds were begging Cora to rise from the bed, but she was refusing. What if everything that happened yesterday was just a dream? What if it was all just wishful thinking. What if she didn't really achieve anything? Cora didn't want to face the nightmare of the world still being the way she saw it two days ago. "Cora! Cora, breakfast will be ready soon! Are you up yet?" Cyrus called from behind the door. Cora groaned.
"I'll be out in a bit," Cora groggily replied.
"Don't take too long. Don't want yer eggs an' ham t'be cold!" Cora flung the sheets off and slowly made her way to her clothes on the chair near the door.
"I hear ya; just give me 20 minutes!" Cora proceeded to untangle her hair and dress.
Cora,Levi, Issiah, and Ellis climbed off the wagon. Issiah and Ellis dashed ahead to get to work and left Levi and Cora alone at the wagon. "'Spose this is it," Levi said handing Cora her bags. Cora slightly smiled and nodded.
"Reckon yer right," Cora hesitated. "But ya know something?" Levi looked up. "It doesn't hafta be. We cain stay in touch."
"How so?" Cora handed Levi a folded piece of paper.
"You'll see," she said smiling and left before Levi could say anything else.
"All aboard! Heading for Atlanta, Georgia! All aboard!" the conductor announced.
