5. Unexpected Request

June 12

Spencer's POV: I feel my eyes flutter open as I awake to bright sunlight shining through the window. I have school today since it is a Monday. I wish I could have another normal Saturday so I could relax instead of worrying about 'A's next plan to torture us!

I pull the cover off of my sleeping bag and stand up. I walk towards the window to see what the weather will be like for today. Everything is really bright outside and the sun is right above my head. Why would the Sun be in the middle of the sky when its morning? I normally wake up at 7:00 for school and I'm pretty sure the Sun is supposed to be rising at this time of the day. Oh well! I guess I better go wake up the girls before it gets to late!

"Hey guys, we should probably get ready for school or else we will be late." I say, still looking outside.

I turn around, expecting to see Hannah and Aria. Instead, I see the Barn completely empty and their sleeping bags left on the ground. I walk cautiously towards their sleeping bags, avoiding them as if a spider would jump at me. On Aria and Hannah's pillows '-A' planted a Ali mask on each of their pillows, to make it look like they were still sleeping. God! -A can really do anything possible to annoy me! I begin to scan the ground looking for anything indicating where my friends could be. I spot a white, lined piece of paper laying on the ground. I quickly walk over to the paper and grab it.

"Spencer, Spencer! This is getting too easy! I bet you never thought the pizza man could pull a trick on you! You've been so forgetful lately! I have all your friends here along with Toby in my little lair. 2:00 at the brew today or else you wont be seeing them again! -A"

Oh my god! I was so tired last night I forgot to phone Toby! I hope they are okay! What is -A talking about the pizza man? Did he put something in it? The pizza I had last night did taste funny now that I think of it. -A must have paid Noel to do their work for them! It's no wonder I slept so late, -A must have drugged us with the pizza so they could take my friends! I would do absolutely anything for Toby, I can't believe that -A would take him away from me!!

I have to go to the brew in one hour to see what -A wants now. I get dressed into a grey top and blue jeans, not wanting to wear anything to bright to meet '-A'. I bush my hair out and walk towards the door.

I pull on my leather coat and step into my blue car that my parents bought for me this year. Since my parents are lawyers, they are filthy rich and can buy me almost anything possible.

Once I pull up to the brew, I realize I am 20 minutes early. I decide to order a bagel so I can think about something else. I slowly nibble on the crust, getting more worried each second.

I walk towards the garbage can 10 minutes later to throw out my bagels wrapper. For the next few minutes, I impatiently stare at the door, absentmindedly until I hear a voice that gets my attention.

"I have a order here for Spencer Hastings."

I get up and walk towards the register, wondering what this is about. the cashier hands me a coffee with a bright green sticky note attached to it. I start to walk back to my seat but a hand on my shoulder stops me.

"Im sorry Miss, but you will have to pay for that."

"Um, okay?"

She stares at me like I forgot where I was, and for a second I do. This is all way to much to process. I dig in my handbag for a five dollar bill, once I find five dollars, I hand it to the cashier.

I pick up the mug again and immediately look at the note. The green sticky note is completely blank. Wait, what? I came here to find my friends and -A gives me a blank sticky note!? I walk awkwardly to my seat and set the white mug down. The mugs warm coffee burns my hand as I hold it. I carefully peel the sticky note off and bring it towards my face, not giving up on finding any clue whatsoever. As the light hits the note I notice something strange. There are very faint backwards marks that form letters. Why would -A write backwards, and why so faint? I finally realize, -A wrote on the back of the note. Everything that they do is confusing it makes me so mad that they make our lives miserable! I had a feeling that -A would not show up and they would give me a note, but they can't even be a normal person and write on the front of the sticky note! I quickly turn the green note over and find the message I've always been afraid to find ,

" You must join the -A team, otherwise your friends will stay with me! You cannot tell them or the next funeral you'll be attending is yours!! Have fun -A"

My jaw drops to my knees, and all I hear is my heartbeat getting faster by the second. I have to re-read the note about 5 times before I realize what it says. Why would -A want me to join the -A team? What sick person does this to anyone! I cannot risk Toby, Hannah, Aria, and Emily's lives just for me to be selfish. I need to get them away from -A so they cant hurt my friends anymore. -A always has to do this! They leave me no choice. I will have to follow their orders.

Emily's POV:

I woke up a couple hours ago, in a dark room. I'm pretty sure I'm alone but I can't tell if I am for sure since my hands are tied. I'm still trying to gain enough strength to keep my eyes open. I notice that I have duct tape plastered to my mouth, keeping me from crying for help. There is no escape from this situation. The last thing I remember was studying at the library for my math final the next day.

The door opens loudly and a sliver of light peaks through it. I take my chance and observe my surroundings. Theres two twin beds and a nightstand between the two beds. A darkly clothed person drags in a guy with shaggy brown hair. The black hoodie sets down the guy and pulls out a rope to tie him to the ground. I try to focus on the two figures but I can barley see anything since it is very dark. I really hope Aria, Hannah, and Spencer are looking for me because I really want to get out of here as soon as possible.

The dark figure finishes tying knots and walks towards me. Their long dark curly hair falls over their face as the person leans towards me. Their face is covered by their hair and its really dark in here so I can't make out their faces but, guessing on the hair, -A is a girl. Why would -A want to capture me and bring me to some creepy hotel? -A taps my arm with their gloved hand to see if I'm awake. I twitch at the movement and they move back now knowing I'm awake.

I think of every possible person that could be -A. My choices are cut short since -A has to be a girl. Paige, my last girlfriend, that moved away, could be -A. It could also be Maya, my first girlfriend, but she's been gone for well,... a while now. Even if Alison or Cece put on a wig it could trick anyone into thinking they were another person. It could be anyone, even a guy could just put on a wig.

-A begins to walk towards the door, at the entrance of the room but stops before she opens it. She grabs an item near the door and starts walking towards me. I begin to panic, what are they holding? It could be anything from a gun to a teddy bear.

"I'm sorry Emily." The black hoodie says and lifts what is in their hands.

Their voice sounds really familiar but it's hard to match their voice to a face. She hits me in the head with a hard 'clunk', and I immediately know that she was holding, a shovel. My vision starts to go blurry and everything I can see is getting darker by the second.

-A turns around and walks out of the building, leaving me with a headache. The spot on my head is really starting to hurt from the impact of the shovel.

I have so many questions, who is -A? Who is the guy across from me that -A dragged in? When will I be rescued? And most of all, when will this all be over? I thought -A was gone! Spencer, Aria, Hannah, and I have not heard from -A for at least 1 year and now they decide to show up?

My eyes close and I don't know if its because -A hit me or if its just because I'm exhausted. I end up falling asleep in the dark hotel room with a stranger across from me that's already passed out. I'm just hoping that when I wake up it will all just be a bad dream.

AN: Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in like 3 months but I have been extremely busy with dance festival and loads of homework. I don't have that much going on this weekend so I wrote this chapter quickly. I'm going to try to update more often because at one point I actually forgot about this book so I was forgetting to update.
