Rhyder is five years younger than my father.

Altogether they are four children.

Two older sisters, then my father, then Rhyder.

My father's two oldest sisters both married successful men and they are both housewives.

My father took over the family business.

You name it we probably have some kind of majority in it. The whole town his full of our name.

There is no way I can escape the name "Brown".

Rhyder is a chef and he leads a pretty normal life.

He came out to his parents and the rest of the family he was fifteen. They sent him to a bunch of 'boot camps' and conversion therapy institutes to try and fix the fact that he liked boys and not girls.

After a while they realized that no amount of force, bribing or beatings could change him and that was when they disinherited him and wrote him off completely.

He was sixteen when they kicked him out of the house. He went through a lot during the time that he stayed on the streets which he never speaks about. It was the type of things that kept him awake at night. The sort of things that changed him.

Even though he was in the same town going through hell his family never attempted to help him.

At the age of seventeen he met a man by the name of Benjamin Rhyder. Benjamin was around eighty years old and he took Rhyder into his house and treated him like his own son.

He was the one that helped Rhyder to get a lawyer and legally emancipate himself from his parents.

After a few years Benjamin passed away and he left Rhyder his apartment and also a bit of money.

Rhyder used that little bit of money to go to night school while he worked during the day.

He worked extra hard at this big-shot restaurant from the lowest position, a dishwasher, until he became the executive chef of that restaurant.

He worked hard to get there where he was today, to give himself a better life.

If anyone were to ever ask me who was one of my heroes, or the person I looked up to the most, then it would have to be him. He had to deal with a lot of hardships in his life, but he managed to dig and crawl through the mud to come out clean on the other side.
