《-♡----------------♡-》

If you have successfully gotten this far, well, hello! I'm happy you are here. Together, I will gladly guide you through the beauty of art. Let me introduce you to a few rules, well, they are not necessarily rules, but they are good to know while practicing.

1) Patience

I know what you're thinking, “But, my patience is thinner than one strand of hair” you want to know something funny… So Is mine… Yeah, both an artist and an author… with patience problems. Yeah yeah, I've heard it all. But, whenever you feel lost or frustrated with the amount of patience put into it, just think positive. Or grab your phone and pop open YouTube, you'll find a lot of anti-stress music on there. And always take breaks when you are at the climax of your frustration.

2) Practice practice practice

There ain't ever such a thing as too much practice, anytime you sketch off to the side of a paper, you are already in the process of improving. Even if you can't notice any difference, it's still there.

3) Never EVER compare

Ready to hear some nonsense… Do NOT ever compare your art to another's work! Stop! This was part of my problem as a growing artist, this not only destroys your self-esteem, but it also discourages drawing. Which means no improvement.

I lived most of my eight years into art doing nothing but comparing, I went through about a six-month period of no drawing whatsoever, which was extremely detrimental to my work. To the six months I lost, I probably could have been a bit of a better artist today.

AGE DOES NOT DEFINE ONE'S SKILL

Don't let age discourage you, trust me, I have met thirteen-year-olds who can draw flawlessly and realistically.

Your tools will not matter in this book, if you draw from a computer, so be it, if you are a traditional artist, so be it, if you draw from an iPad, so be it, your tools don't define your skill. Although this book is written from my experiences with different programs and such, this shouldn't discourage you from using whatever it is you use.
