Bridget woke up lazily and rubbed her sleep crusted her eyelids. She turned to her side, where she'd remembered Greyson had been last night and her heart sank when she noticed that he wasn't lying beside her. A part of her wished he'd stayed but she knew that they were going to take this thing one day at a time.Bridget rolled to the left and saw a note on her nightstand. Feeling a grin creep across her face, she opened the note and bit her lip to keep herself from squealing with delight.
Good morning Bridge, my offer still stands if you need a place to stay. I'll have my house ready by eight if you two still want to stay with me.
~Greyson
Bridget leaped out of bed and grabbed her suitcase, it was so cute how nervous he sounded in his letter. Of course she'd still take him up on his offer, she wasn't crazy, and she knew Juliet would love this idea.
Bridget crept into Juliet's room and gently shook her awake. "Jules, Jules I've got a surprise for you." Bridget whispered with a cheerful grin on her face.
"What mommy?" Juliet moaned and lazily opened her sleepy eyes.
"Pack your suitcase, we're moving again."
"Why? I like it here." Juliet opened her eyes but made no effort to get out of bed.
"You remember us talking yesterday?"
"About what?" Juliet yawned.
"You asked me if I was going to live with Greyson."
Hope ignited in her deep blue eyes. "We are living with daddy?"
"Yes, and he's waiting for us at his house, we're going to stay with Greyson for a while."
Juliet shot out of bed. "We're living with daddy?! We get to live with daddy forever!?"
"Not forever, just for a little while, sweetie. Now come on, let's get you packed, but be quiet ok?" Bridget hushed her.
"Ok." Juliet whispered, soaring out of bed and grabbing her suitcase, filling it with her clothes and toys.
Bridget helped her daughter get her things together and Juliet ran as quickly and quietly as she could through the house and into the car, leaving Bridget behind to lug their suitcases.
At exactly eight o'clock, Bridget backed out of the driveway and drove towards Greyson's house, all after sending him a text, saying they were on their way.
"Mommy?"
"Yes sweetie?"
"Why are we going to live with daddy?" Her curious gaze met Bridget's in the rear view mirror.
Bridget took a deep breath, "Well sweetheart, Grandma and I got into a fight and I told Greyson about it. And he offered us his house until I'm done with work, then we'll move back to New York. But make sure you tell him thank you for letting us stay with him. This was very nice of him to do." Bridget simplified but it didn't mellow out her daughter who was bouncing around in her car seat like she'd just drank a ton of caffeine.
"Are you and Grandma going to say sorry?" Juliet asked innocently and Bridget cursed internally at how well she'd taught her daughter about being nice.
"We will soon, I just want to give her some space before we both apologize." Bridget gripped the steering wheel, the thought of apologizing to her mother made her blood boil.
"What were you and Grandma fighting about?"
"Oh look we're here!" Bridget announced, thankful to change the subject.
