The Commander's Power

Chapter 7

Rose City was a beautiful little City and very lively as well.

There were trees and flowers all around with older buildings and some new ones too.

It had tones of little shops surrounding it with little cart shops with people calling out to shoppers.

The streets were packed with people enjoying themselves.

In the middle of the town, it only had one bank for everyone to leave their money in it.

Only the rich left their money so it was a private bank, not anyone was allowed in it so that bank had guards during the day and night watching and making sure nothing would happen.

This was also the bank that the King used to hold his money. He didn't put much in that bank only a few chests of gold but that's about it really, he only had kept his money in that bank so that when he did come and visit City Rose he didn't need to worry about bringing money with him.

This was the first time for Zoe to travel, she was amazed by everything happening around her.

Once they all got off the ship they headed straight away to the scene of the crime at the bank.

The Chief, Zoe and Keith were all looking around inside of the room where the King's money was.

"1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10" Zoe counted all the wooden chests in the room but only one was broken into.

"Why wouldn't the thief try to steal more than one chest." She said out loud to the others.

The Chief and Keith also had noticed this too and wondered.

"If it were me I souls at least try to get as much as I can so why only one chest?" Said Keith with a wondering look.

Then the Cheif said, "There must have been something really valuable inside of  this wooden chest."

"What's more valuable than silver and gold?" Zoe spate out.

She thought these two were crazy in the head thinking that money was not as valuable, money meant more than anything to her what else could be worth more.

Both of the men in the room laughed and shook their heads.

"Only you would think that Zoe but trust me there are more things in this world that are valuable." The Cheif said.

Out said of the room The Commander was off talking to the bank to see his intake of what had happened when the Kings money had been broken into.

"I'm not sure what had happened. I was at home and the next day I came into work, I saw that the door to the King's bank room was open. I came into the room and looked over to see if there was something wrong and then I saw the lead of the chest open. So I came over and looked inside and saw that all of the money was missing from it."

The Commander listen to everything that he had to say.

"What about the guards why didn't they notice anything strange?" The Commander asked.

"They are not allowed into the bank at night. All doors are locked so they stay outside." Reply the Manger.

"Alright then, for now, everyone who works for this bank including you are not allowed around the premises not until the investigation is solved. So tell them all to leave.  I'll have my guards keep watch out so you need not worry. Also, inform all your workers and guards I want them to be here in a couple of days, I want everyone here before 10:00 Am."

A few guards were placed outside of the bank to keep pedestrians away from coming near or into the bank.

Zoe had her micro-fine glass out in her hand, as she was Crouch down onto the floor she was observing all of the different kinds of size footsteps prints that were left behind in the room.

Some of the prints were from dust some from mod but a couple of the footprints were from wax.

"Hmm, it looks to be at least 10 different footprints in here. It's going to be hard to identify these prints, I'll need to get everyone who works here printed." After Zoe had said that she looked over at the Chief.

The Cheif noticed her looking at him so he said "Have you noticed anything else? In the room"

This was Zoe's specialty finding Clues.

"Yes I have, If you look over here ( she walked over towards the wooden chest) there are at least 3 different fingerprints. If we match those fingerprints to the footprints we should  have our suspect or suspects."

"Very good." The Chief said

"You have done it again Zoe great work." Said Keith with a big smile on his face.

He was so proud of her.

Only a few seconds later The Commander had overheard their conversation in the room.

"Well then now that you have found some clues let's start moving to solve this case, stop standing around." The Commander ordered.

He looked over at the Bank manager who had also walked into the room with him. "I want everyone to be fingerprinted, also I was everyone bouts to be printed as well."

"Yes Sir." The bank Manager said then bowed before him and left.

"Everyone leaves except him." The Commander said pointing his finger towards Zoe telling her to stay behind.

The Cheif didn't like the idea of leaving Zoe there but he had no choice.

He looked at Zoe then at the Commander and back at Zoe feeling uneasy at the moment.

"Do I needed to repeat myself?" Asked the Commander who was starting to get frustrated with the chief and Keith.

"No." They said at the same time and left.

Zoe didn't care that she was left in the room with the Commander. She kept looking around to see if she missed anything.

After a few minutes, she felt a burning sensation on her back like someone was looking at her, so she turned herself around and noticed that the commander was staring at her.

"Ummm ( she was feeling awkward) oh come and see."

Holder her microphone glass out she headed over towards the footprints.

"We have about 10 different footprints in this room, and if you look very closely you can tell that these footprints were all made from men's shoes." She said

Then she went on to say " if you look at these footprints they are from wax, also I found this (she headed over towards the wooden chest) there are 3 different fingerprints."

The Commander didn't say a word just observed everything that he had said.

Zoe felt that with him not saying a word it meant that he approved so she went on to say " If you look closely to the lock here (she went eye level to the lock and so did the Commander.) You can see that it's a 3 lock system which is hard to break into also no scratches are surrounding the lock. So that means whoever had solen the King's money must have had access to a key."

The Commander looked at Zoe and then back at the lock.

"It looks like your on to something here little Shrimp. I'll go back to talking to the manager and also my guards. From now only you are allowed in this room and I mean only you. I don't want others tampering with any of the evidence around here."

"Ok." That was all she replied.

Before the Commander had risen from his spot he had looked into Zoes big eyes, they sparkled brightly.

He found himself feeling different things inside of himself at that moment which he should be thinking towards this little Shrimp.

A true man wouldn't have big and bright eyes as he did.......
