There was no denying it. Dream wanted to know and experience everything that had to do with George being a vampire. He learned the secret, he watched George heal before his eyes, he had a supernatural shield around his wrist, and even had his blood sucked. Dream experienced more than he ever imagined was possible, yet instead of being satisfied or relieved or whatever he felt he should feel, he only felt more hungry. He wanted to know more. He wanted to experience more. There was so much he hadn't seen yet and it made Dream anxious.
Dream purposefully waited in the living room after the sun went down. The tv was on but he was too distracted to pay attention. He listened to every sound in the house as he waited impatiently on the couch. Every so often, he could hear Sapnap singing along to his music and then yell in rage at whatever game he was playing. George also screamed once or twice and Dream knew the sound well enough to recognize it was his death scream.
Dream would've been playing a game as well, but his mind was elsewhere.
And just like he predicted, George came jogging down the steps a few minutes after his screams had gone silent. He was wiggling into a sweatshirt and had Patches in his wake.
"You're going out again?" Dream asked as he stood.
George shoved his head through the hole of his sweatshirt as he reached the bottom of the staircase and gave Dream a suspicious look. "Yeah... Why? Are you going to force feed me your blood so I don't go out again?"
"No. I mean, I figured we..." Dream trailed off awkwardly as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Maybe it would be safer if I went with you. I can watch your back or something."
George's suspicion only grew with every word Dream spoke. His eyes narrowed and his arms crossed over his chest as he stared Dream down. Dream was being too curious for his own good. He even went as far as to cut himself and offer his blood. It was careless of him. It wasn't even that long ago that Dream found out George was a vampire and he was just throwing himself into this world.
Did he not realize how dangerous this world was? Did he really not care? Did the wooden bullets, angry bloodlust, and vervain bracelet not spell it out? Dream was human. He couldn't be so careless like this.
"I'll be fine, Dream. Don't sweat it."
Patches rubbed against Dream's leg and he looked down at her, smiling at the gesture of affection. George decided to walk to the front door and leave while Dream was distracted.
"Wait, George! Hold on!" Dream all but shouted as he rushed out the front door, one arm through his jacket.
George groaned and stopped halfway down their driveway. He turned around to see Dream opening the door of his car as he shimmied into the other arm of his jacket.
"I'll drive you, and I'll leave you alone. Just let me come with," Dream insisted.
"Why do you want to come with so badly, Dream?"
"I-I don't know... To watch your back."
"Then I'll have to watch your back too, Dream. You're prey and I'm not the only one out feeding tonight."
Dream's eyes slightly widened. He hadn't really considered that. It was never a concern in his life because he never thought vampires were real. All he was thinking about was George. He hadn't considered there were others.
"I've never been fed on before," Dream said with a shrug. "Besides the other night, obviously."
"How would you even know? What if you were compelled?" George challenged. Dream was silent as he thought about it and George snorted a laugh at the blank look on Dream's face. "Exactly, Dream. Just go back inside. I'll be back soon."
